Life beyond faith: Roddy Bottum's new 'teen' angst

By Jeff Walsh

As the keyboardist for Faith No More, Roddy Bottum bent the stereotypical image of the "gay piano player." His melodic piano capped the band's monster hit "Epic," which until his piano solo is a rollicking metal-rap song. Bottum plays the melody at the part near the video's end where a fish is flipping around on the dirt.

Gina Gutierrez, 22, of Arecibo, Puerto Rico

By Jeff Walsh

Gina Gutierrez was born in San Francisco, and lived only an hour away from it throughout her teen years. In 1990, while a senior in high school, she was prominently featured in the educational film "Gay Youth." She then attended Hampshire College, in the queer-friendly Amherst, Mass. But now, Gutierrez is living in a small town in Puerto Rico. Her close-cropped or shaved head seen in the video, is now waist-length. Her "little boy body" in the video, as she calls it, is now more filled out.

counsel -- I need it

Okay, so two months ago a guy from my real life who barely knew me told me over the internet that he liked me. Against my no dating policy at the time and my better judgment, I told him I liked him too. All was happy.

Two weeks later, after talking online and basically deciding that we would be dating when school started again, he said that it wouldn't work and that we would be better friends than boyfriends. He had no real reason for the change of heart, and I was hurt.

my weird "love life"

i think i'm gonna be in a causal type relationship with this girl. more like friends that are close physically too. i'll see what happens when i see her again but that should be interesting. she doesnt want a commited realationship, and i don't really think i could either that this point. i just need someone to hold me.

theres a girl who lives across the country that has a crush on me. thats not going to happen though, for many reasons, distance being the main one. thats been stressing me out, to add on to everything else.

I like (the optimist's approach)

I like it raining and everyone else being annyoed, and laughing at them for being annoyed becasue of ssuch trivial things
I like people asking me out and saying, 'i would, but i'm gay' (on the rare occasion that this happens) why don't girls ask me out though? Damn them!!
I like finding out things from other people that i don't know that well, like what it's like to work at a call centre thing or whatever JB does.
