(Julie of the Wolves.)
"K'oh-lure b'ah-yow-say k'oh-lure-beer b'ah-yow say; sue-ri vangha-bangha-nay, sue-ri vangha-bangha-nay."
It's an old Yup'ik childrens' song, kind of like Ring Around the Rosey. Very old, very difficult to pronounce (I wrote it how you say it, not how you write it), very hard to remember and probably my favorite song ever. I've decided to adopt the Yup'ik culture a bit & learn about it, since my character thought it was so marvelous she gave up plumbing to be part of it.
Rehearsal was AMAZING!!!!!!!
*We played these cool games where 5 people stand in a line, 3 on the ground & 2 standing. The people have to stand & sit, always looking directly forward, & ALWAYS have 3 people down & 2 people up. The players get this weird connection by the end & it's really creepy & cool.
*We practiced dance steps that look like wolves moving, which hurt but also feel good, if that makes sense. My spine aches from rolling on the ground so much, but it looks very cool.
*We got our (finalized) characters and--wah, wah--my husband is NOT the cute boy, J, as I had hoped. He (my husband) is actually not very attractive at all, & J plays the boy who sexually harasses Julie. :( Oh well.
*I get to wear a pillow! :P My character is preganant, so I'm going to walk around with my hand on my belly & wear a pillow under my shirt. Very fun.
Also, I decided on what I'm doing for my Bday party. I'm writing an interactive mystery party, as usual, but this time it's (GASP!) unscripted and it's a parody of classic fantasy like LOTR, Sword of Truth (yuck), etc.
In other news, my parents bought my ticket so I'm officially going to NYC this August. This is as close as I get to an exciting coming-of-age story, so I hope it's good!
