That Boring Story.

Today was certainly a most mellow day. I got up nice and early to get me a haircut and a brow waxing (shit HURT). Then came home and lazed about pondering what to do for the remainder of the day. Exciting right?

So I decide to call my friend (I don't want to say her name so we'll call her Ruby) and from the moment she picked up I could tell something was up. She had this very low, cold tone to her voice and in the background I could hear her mom talking and it had a pretty stern sound to it. But nonetheless, Ruby agreed to meet me up at the Starbucks by our house.

So I get up there, and Ruby sitting outside with two other people, one of whom I am in not so good terms with. But I sat down anyways and we had a nice conversation, so all was well. Soon enough the other two left and it was just Ruby and I. We decided to walk over to a park nearby and I decided it would be a good time to ask about the phone call.

As it turns out Ruby wasn't having the best home situation right now (which has been going on for quite some time) and she had gotten into yet another fight with her parents. She told me what had happened and it was just horrific what they said to her. The worst part was when she told me she "wishes she could have a normal family." My heart really broke for her. I assured her though that what was happening was a lot more common than it appears, and shared a few of my own experiences with my family that were quite unpleasant. I don't know if it helped, but no one should ever feel like they're alone in times like that.

From there we had a deep conversation about our childhoods, religion, and other such topics. I guess this story isn't all that exciting but I just thought I would share. I guess what really made it so wonderful for me is that we realized how similar we were, which I must say, was really cool. :)

It's kinda sad that a lot of friendships (or relationships in general, for that matter) seem to be strengthened only in the midst of something negative or tragic. Still, it is cool that you could be there for her and become closer to her as a result.

Yeah, it is sad. But then

Yeah, it is sad. But then again the worst of times show people's true character, sometimes for the best, sometimes for the worst.
