No friends to go with and I'm stuck at home. Boring Summer is boring and hot as hell, got up to 102°F yesterday. So much for pride month. I guess I'll just make like a skunk, and stumble around my house in the cool dark.
But I can't go to pride. I don't have any friends to go with and it would just be weird and scary if I went by myself. Weird because I'd just be by myself and scary because it's the city I'd be going to by myself. And everyone I know tells me it's best to be with at least one other person when in the city.
Boring summer. I totally know what you mean. I love how at the end of every school year my friends and I all swear to hang out and kick ass over the summer but it never happens. Blarg.
Pride! People keep talking about it. If you can make it you should definitely go. I can't. I'm pretty sure they have it up in Chicago, but there's no way I could go. My mom wouldn't allow it. I've heard it's quite an experience.
It was 107 down here! I felt like my flesh was going to melt into a puddle .-.
As for Pride, just go. It's a load of fun even without people to go with. There's always tons of really friendly people that turn up and the people watching is amazing! lol
As for July? Doesn't matter. If they were old, they had plenty of time to move somewhere warmer if they wanted to. They stayed, they died, that's how life works...
Life is terminal.

is both one of the Most Liked and Hated Nations, go to France and Italy you will get privilage if your a Scot, go to Canada be treated like a King, now, go to most of the Equator HATRED for no reason :S
Plus Jeff statistically Scots are Proud people much more proud than America is
I hate to break it to you, but... I'd say if you go almost anywhere, no one will really care. They may ask about Scotland, haggis, Star Trek, but after a short time, they either like you or not, regardless of Scotland...
Personally, I don't get into fetishizing where my parents had sex and didn't move from, because their parents had sex there and didn't move, because my great-grandmother came to America on a boat and heard other people she knew had moved there, so she did, too. It's not a bad place, but in a world with airplanes and such, who cares? I can get back there when I need to easily. I'm just more into urban settings.
So, I think pride for that is kind of silly, so having MORE of that isn't an asset. And, being in San Francisco and NYC, one could argue I've been living in some of the places where pride actually makes sense, as opposed to, that middle that people fly over... ;-)
I mean, if you get out of that bubble, it becomes like we're proud because we live in a cold, shit, difficult place where we eat haggis on purpose and England hates us?!, and if you get far enough away, you'd wonder why no one else leaves and why you ever cared. But most people stay inside the bubble... and will encourage you to do the same, since they don't like hearing that it is a choice.
Feel free to disagree. ;-)

we don't leave Scotland do to climate either, for example if you live in a country that can get in to the minuses any day of the year its going to be a good move to Move anywhere outside of the Nordic Countrys and the Nordics have the exact same climate, most people do come back, it isn't the late 1800's any more Jeff, Scots don't just leave especially after Wales took over Farming and we struck Oil, Scotland is a Balanced and Supported Nation with no true reason to leave other than climate, unless your English then you have a good reason to leave.
Pride for a Nation that most people can find inhabitable, is good considering WE BEAT THE BRITISH EMPIRE ON OUR OWN you America got the French Empire to help.
and we got Equal Rights for All Races and Sexes before England and America and have never been a homophobic nation even in the Middle ages, Tradition is important in Scotland, we celebrate Scots festivals all the time, Jeff, that is Pride, oh and about to Rise up Against the Anglian Invadoeres after over a century of discrimination and going to become independent you need pride for that.
none of that needs to matters to your actual life. It is just stuff you have been brought up believing because of where you happened to pop out of a vagina geographically. It is an identity you can decide to keep, or you can just say... enough of this cold whingy place, I'm moving somewhere more agreeable.

Scots can't survive out of the Cold if you where to take a Scot even to South Europe it would be the same as taking a Polar Bear from the Arctic and putting it in the Sahara
if a group of individuals live in a hostile climate for several generations they will adopt to that environment in many cases will not be able to survive in other environments due to new adaptions, Statistically Speaking Scots are Taller, Wider, Have Brauder Shoulders, grow hair quicker and process more fat than most Groups of people
it used to be on the news alot now its rare but they have been cases of Scot's and Welshi's dying from heat in what is considered a cold country during what what is considered average heat Jeff, -30 to 12 degrees is what Scots are Adapted too
Scots get exhausted, sweat constantly, get heatstroke VERY easily, pass out alot and fill up the hospitals when its 13 Degrees, PEOPLE NEARLY DIE AT 13 DEGREE'S
January (your coldest month) typically has a mean temperature of 2℃ (that's above freezing!).
Where I live, the mean temperature for the entire winter is typically -12℃! (meaning that only rarely does the temperature ever rise above freezing January/February!)
btw... Last winter, however, was the warmest on record! An anomaly... or climate change? Dunno...
Here's enough world temperature information to stave off boredom at least until you're 21:
i say climate change, the summer week was hot an there is less snow on the mount's
January isn't actually as cold as november is, november is much colder, it started snowing (as in HEAVY Snow, BLIZZARD Snow) 2 years back in november i think it was about 12ft every 2 days, if we didn't keep removing it.
You know Tycoon, I do appreciate when you decide to comment on my journals. However please keep the nationalism and arguing in a seperate journal instead of jacking peoples journals.
Does Jeff 'make things escalate' this much with anyone else? Is it only ever Jeff who 'makes things escalate' with you? Accept a bit of responsibility here, really.
I never realize what journals they are actually on, since I navigate in through a comment control panel, so when I show up, I only see the comment I'm planning to reply to, hehe.
Usually there's no way to know a conversation is going to go on and on until it's too late, though. Would be a good feature, if you could go back, click a button, and it became Tycoon's journal, with a link back to the original post where it started...

Why can't you go to pride?
I may skip Pride this year, too, but only because two Broadway shows are closing that day, hehe. And if one is Priscilla, that's pretty gay...

just wondering... where is pride this year?
~"i'm a real Witch, Before, During AND After my coffee!"
oh i envy you lot
since you still have summer, while the Scottish Summer ended almost a month ago
Please don't.
Just don't. You're lucky you live in a place that gets snow.
please don't
you lucky you live in a country where the news doesn't say 30+ people die every year due to age & Cold
Snows cool, unless you get it year round like we do
Umm...
People die everywhere due to age and cold. I used to write obituaries, and when there was a snow storm, it was like, "Oh no, here we go..."
---
"You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks" - Dawes, When My Time Comes (http://youtu.be/Z0FrcTX6hWI)
but jeff
did you write one for a sudden snow storm that killed 25 in JULY?
Hmm...
I've had days with more than 50 obituaries.
As for July? Doesn't matter. If they were old, they had plenty of time to move somewhere warmer if they wanted to. They stayed, they died, that's how life works...

pfffft, ALL OF SCOTLAND IS FREEZING COLD, and no Scot wants to move to England, god a scot in england gets treated like he/she is diseased.
Hmm...
I don't want to blow your mind...
But you can leave all of the UK entirely. You can move to the equator. Anywhere on the globe, really.

ok "what is the larger picture"

That...

your still forgeting something
Scots can't survive out of the Cold if you where to take a Scot even to South Europe it would be the same as taking a Polar Bear from the Arctic and putting it in the Sahara
Hmm...
That's complete nonsense. ;-)
---
"You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks" - Dawes, When My Time Comes (http://youtu.be/Z0FrcTX6hWI)
its adaption
if a group of individuals live in a hostile climate for several generations they will adopt to that environment in many cases will not be able to survive in other environments due to new adaptions, Statistically Speaking Scots are Taller, Wider, Have Brauder Shoulders, grow hair quicker and process more fat than most Groups of people
Adaption
Too narrow...
Still, there's a difference between adapting to your climate and thinking moving to another climate will kill you. Huge leap.
(I totally thought this was on your journal, btw, not lonewolf's hehe)

Not True
it used to be on the news alot now its rare but they have been cases of Scot's and Welshi's dying from heat in what is considered a cold country during what what is considered average heat Jeff, -30 to 12 degrees is what Scots are Adapted too
Scots get exhausted, sweat constantly, get heatstroke VERY easily, pass out alot and fill up the hospitals when its 13 Degrees, PEOPLE NEARLY DIE AT 13 DEGREE'S
So...
You can't leave Scotland, in case you're some statistical anomaly of someone who can only live in that climate or die?

we are the Human Polar Bears
not Adaptable to climates out side of Northern Europe and Northern Canada

Agreed.
I second this comment.
Don't Blame Me
i made a Comment, Jeff turned it into a Argument, Jeff has away of making things escalate accidentally
Ah.. hah!
The light's come on!
But... accidentally?
yes Accidently

Er....
Does Jeff 'make things escalate' this much with anyone else? Is it only ever Jeff who 'makes things escalate' with you? Accept a bit of responsibility here, really.
it was partly my fault
but mostly his, still accidently

I'm not a programmer, so where are these new modules coming from? Even if they exist, someone has to know how to configure/install/customize, etc.

oh
the internet is your friend Jeff, google how and follow instructions
Not...
Once you have an active website with thousands of users. I screw up one thing and everyone's content disappears.
On my blog, sure, I do the coding on that... since I export all my posts beforehand. This is way above my pay grade.
---

they are not 1,000's of users
ok, go up to one of the programmers do them something and they will owe you
Umm...
There aren't 1,000 active users, but definitely more than 1,000 users who have posted. Tens of thousands of accounts.
Fixing Oasis isn't a priority for me right now.

oh
how many Active users are there
Maybe make a journal,
and ask Jeff about it there instead of using my journal that I posted three days ago.
Maybe give me some advice on my new journal
and this will stio
