Don't Hate Me For Being Twelve!

So here I am writing my first of what I hope will be many entries, or as I like to say, peeks into my life.

And, yeah I'm really twelve. Eleven months until I'm a teen. Great.

Don't hate me for that!

I've known about Oasis for about a year when I was allowed unrestricted internet access/usage for the first time, and I wasted no time looking for gay stuff. Found lots of shady shit out there, and so far this is one of the few normal gay things.

I wasn't sure I wanted to write on here but then I found a site that had some of the first issues of Oasis and there were a bunch of guys around my age telling their POV's...some amazing stuff! I'm probably one of the youngest writers on here, and again don't hate me for that.

I've gone into gay chat rooms and been treated like shit just because of my age, or when people WILL talk with me they're all freaky and pervy, or they want me to send them dirty pics...all I want to do is connect with other gays! Hopefully here things will be better.

In future entries I'll be talking about some of my interests, what it's like being home schooled, and being a gay jock (there's lots of us too, trust me!). I'm also a musician (drums/bass/guitar) and I'm into metal and grunge...yeah I know, how un-gay is that!

I'll also be talking about what is like living full time with my Grandma, seeing my Dad a few week a year (he lives in Europe), and basically not having my Mom in my life (looooooooooong story).

My Dad's also gay, but my family thinks it's a secret. I know the truth.

Just please don't hate me for what I write, what I listen to, or how old I am.

Hehe...

I was twelve once, how could I hate you for that?

No doubt, twelve is young, especially, as you say, being 11 months away from being 13.
But the point of this site is definitely not that you already have the answers, the point is to grow, yourself, intellectually and otherwise. Especially in how fast the teen years go, it's useful to have a site to figure things out and everything.

And very impressive, I don't think I was anywhere near as sophisticated as you when I was your age, you'll do fine :P
Hell, I joined this site when I was 13, and I was really confused about my sexuality, it took me a few years here to actually accept myself, it seems like you already have it figured out.

I'm quite confident that you will find things much better here!

I've also casually glanced at some of the other sites... and I've found none that even approaches the civility and friendliness you'll find here on Oasis!

If you've seen any of my comments... you'll likely have noted that Journals from me are conspicuously absent. The reason is quite simple: Members of Oasis are typically quite young... and it's been many years since I could claim this classification. And... I feel that Journals are for the young --- those who are still in the process of determining who they will become!

Actually... I'm long-retired university faculty... and, other than Jeff (founder of Oasis), I seem to be the only regular non-teen (or near-teen) currently here.

I'm assuming the antecedent of "he" is Sam2000. If correct, this doesn't jibe with his avowed birth date (see profile).

Whether year 2000 is technically the first year of the 21st century or the last year of the 20th...

Yeah...

I know, the century officially starts on the year '01, but why? That seems like a stupid designation.
Besides which, 2001 wasn't the year everyone was celebrating and screaming like mad, and panicking about who-knows-what, and what-all. No one was excited for 2001 like for 2000.

Is this one of those 'year zero' things? Like, the timeline goes from 1 BC to 1 AD without passing through zero, so everything gets shifted a bit in confusingness?

No real comments on your journal entry except the music part. I just started playing bass, and I also love metal. Not much of a fan of grunge, though. The most unique music I'm into is noise. Especially Merzbow. He's so fucking interesting. I have his first albums, from when he did a shitload of different kinds of experimenting. So interesting. Here are my favorite songs by him:
