in saecula saeculorum

hello everyone, the flu season has officially struck (i'm sick). i drank some lemon tea which really helped and i'm feeling alot better. since i now have photoshop, i can finally process my RAW photos i took of the day i went to the aquarium. i took over 100 photos of all the sea dwellers. my friends and i have a facebook page where we took photos of ourselves modeling vintage clothing and show people how to create outfits and so far we only have around 135 likes. i don't think my friend really wants to learn how to take better photos because although i've given her tips and shown her the basic manual settings, she refuses to give it a try! she always take bad photos and she is always told by others how lovely they are, i think they're delusional.

she also refuses to edit any of her photos which i used to do but it really is a must for any photographer, amateur or professional. she took a photo of me that looked really awful because she doesn't know how to get the most out of her camera. i ended up trying to fix it but it kept getting worse.

then today i uploaded an old photo of my other friend onto the page and it came out really nice. it has a blurred background, a headshot of my friend, a nice emphasis on the colors green and red (green for the trees that were behind her and red because she has light brown/red hair). so i upload it and i check back later only to find that my friend, whom we'll call stubborn, flipped it horizontally! why the fuck would she do that? it's ridiculous and i then flipped it back to the way it was. stubborn needs to keep her hands off my photo because it was taken by me and she could've asked me instead of doing it without my permission. it got me mad because it's like my property, ya' know? i never edited nor flipped stubborn's photos to my liking.

i'm going to have a talk with her oh and one other thing, her photos get 10+ likes while this really great photo only got 2. i'm very competitive, wish i wasn't.

Hmmm....

How does that work grammatically, 'in saecula saeculorum'? 'Cause saecula looks like it would have to be first declension, feminine, because of how it ends with an a after the preposition in, but saeculorum is clearly second declension genitive plural - presumably neuter, because in 'bene legere saecla vincere,' saecla is the same word as saecula, means 'ages,' and it's accusative neuter plural. So it looks like something's odd with the grammar with that whole in saecula thing....

Consulting Google now...

Google wasn't particularly helpful, but....

in isn't in like 'in,' it's in like 'into,' and therefore takes an accusative, saecula being a perfectly acceptable accusative neuter plural, second declension. So it's 'into an age of ages.' It all makes sense now.

Sorry, Javier, I know you almost certainly don't care. I just have to nerd out whenever I see Latin. I'd love to see some of your photographs, though. And tell me, why is editing photos such a necessity?

About photos...

This is kinda my insight, but it's just my two cents.
See if you take a picture, you only capture the moment you see immediately. The colours are the way they are, no blur, etc... no crop...

But if you edit a photo, you can bring out the visuals/colours/focus that you WANT to be seen, and make it overall more beautiful looking. It's hard to take a perfect shot without editing anything, because nature's colours and such are so random. It's kinda like playing music but without paying attention to accents, tempos, or loudness. Good, but not marvelous.

i remember reading an orwell piece and the translation literally meant "forever and ever." Dracofangxxx pretty much said what i was going to say. i'll probably post some as soon as i start working on my portfolio.

Hmm,

"she took a photo of me that looked really awful because she doesn't know how to get the most out of her camera."

I find that the best type of photo taken is one that isn't edited. Just adjust your position and lighting and snap, there's a piece of unique art. And also I side with Dracofangxxx's opinion on photo editing. Just a thought.

It depends...

On what you want to get out of your picture :]

well i don't know which mode she shoots in but the lighting was bad, i looked really dark and she didn't tell me how to pose! you're absolutely right though but when i edit, i only add the finishing touches.
