Dayummm, son!

10 hours of jet lag.
It's supposed to be 9:20 AM, but instead it's 7:20 PM. Ewwww....
I'm so tired.

I was surprised, Turkish guys are hotter than I thought... :P
Anyway, I don't have much time, as we're about to go to dinner.

So, first impressions, Istanbul is big. But really, a lot like any non-American city like Madrid or Reykjavik.
And, so far, I think I liked Iceland better... Although that's probably because for one, I've been dead tired all day while we toured Istanbul, and, we've only been in Istanbul, which as I said is very reminiscient of Reykjavik in Iceland. Narrow cobbled streets, and seemingly no rules of the road when you're in them. The drivers here have skills, half-inch misses at 30 mph are routine.

Tomorrow, we leave here and get to see the country. I've decided that I will compare everything to Iceland. So far, more jet lag.

I really liked seeing the thousands of years old walls of old Constantinople, and the fortress the sultan built to siege them while crumbling them with cannons. It brought more reality to history for me...

And boy, it's good to be the sultan. To get into his palace there's massive walls defending it so you have to go through a narrow street to approach it. Then you enter the first gate, and into the giant outer garden. About 3000 people lived in the palace, and all of them were allowed here.
But then there was the second gate, into the second even fancier garden, and only the senators and cooks were allowed in here.
And then there was a third gate into the sultan's private residence where he stayed by himself, and it's like DAYUMM, SON.
He had his own treasury filled with mad things like an 89 karat diamond, and a box that was literally made out of solid emerald. Like, made out of it.
Crazy shit.

And all I was able to determine that the sultan did all day was related to sex. We saw where he had breakfast in the morning, alone, no one else was allowed near, and it was on this balcony, overlooking the special concubine's garden, where all his concubines washed while he looked at them and probably pitched a tent as well.
So, he had an official wife, and then also like 40 or 50 concubines, and had sex all day. Many many children.
If I could have like 50 hot guys to watch bathe and then have sex with all day, I'd be a pretty happy guy...
Sad day though, I can't.

And then we visited a mosque where they gave out free Qurans, so I have a Quran now.
It's kinda refreshing, probably 90% or more of the people that are my facebook friends are Christian. I know one Buddhist and then a few Atheists. Here, I checked the wikipedia page, it's like 85% Muslim, 14% Atheist, then 1% everything else (including Christians).
It's kinda refreshing to see all the mosques and hear the call to prayer all the time, rather than be surrounded by Christianity all the time...

Anyway, see ya, mah Oasisies, for an indefinite amount of time!

hehe

whatever i have to say about the reliogion, i have to admit, the places of worship can be buetiful. in differnt ways. mosques are so pretty, and give me a warm feel. the look vibrant and full of life. catholic cathedrals, on the other hand, are so imposing, insanley ornate, and have the cold and bleak feel about them that i really like. of course, that wouldnt stop me from selling everyone of them to contracctors who i knw would tear them down and give the money i got to people who need it. well maybe i would leave like the six most wonderful.

Well actually there is a

Well actually there is a reason for the way they look... if you want me to tell you I can finally have a chance to use everything I learned in Humanities and send you a PM with that information :D

No!

then all that architechtural influence would forever be lost to time! But I do have to agree with you about those places having a cold and empty feel, probably because they are so enormous and one would just feel overwhelmed by the shear size of the cathedral.

the architechtural influecne would be lost...

but so would what the builidngs themselves mean.
which to me, is that reliogion has deemed it more important to use time money and resources on pretty places of worship then on people. which to me, is really messed up. anyhow, tearing down a building dosnt prevent people from looking back at the the blueprints and records of how the builidings were constructed.
