On a different note, I fell asleep listening to Cinema Bizarre last night, because I am now obsessed with them, and I had some FREAKY ASS DREAMS. I don't think people switching to "That's stupid" is a horrible rights violation. Historically, people who use offensive language are the ones who alter their behavior. I also biased, though. I am concerned more with people who are marginalized rather than the people who are using a free speech argument to say something offensive (although I never think assholes should be prevented from saying anything legally).
I think people who act out with internalized homophobia possess it to some degree. It would be more unlikely for you to make it up, and more likely to amplify it. So, if it isn't as bad as you let on, that's fine, but I still think there's some there.
