Wow... dude, I can sense a anti-muslim undertone in what Jeff did here...

Please tell me I am wrong jeff :( Becuase showing that to Lonewolf doesn't really seem cool... :(

Well...

I'm not anti-Muslim any more than I'm against any other religion.

I post negative stuff about the Pope on Facebook all the time, so I don't discriminate.

I don't see what's wrong with showing it, though.

Oh... like South Park... :P

Oh... like South Park... :P A equal oppertunity hater :) Still I don't think that was very cool dude :( It sounds like you picked Lonewolf out like that :(

Well...

I don't consider pointing out the horrible things done in the name of religion to be hating. Showcasing reality isn't hatred. I don't even consider South Park to hate anything.

I am fine with Muslims like https://www.irshadmanji.com/, but she is in the vast minority of people outspoken about trying to reform Islam, not that she has much choice as a lesbian Muslim, heh.

Well, sure if I'm challenged about religion by someone following Islam, I customize my reply. If someone replies with Bible verses, I'd reply with Bible inconsistencies.

You can't go into Islam without being associated with that fundamentalist/militant element, but it is the responsibility of everyone practicing that religion to correct that association, but few do.

Odd, you should say.

Just pointing out the first thing. I think you just plain don't like anyone with a religion. Maybe there were underlying motives behind your showcase of reality. Malicious intent possibly? Only you would know.

"You can't go into Islam without being associated with that fundamentalist/militant element, but it is the responsibility of everyone practicing that religion to correct that association, but few do."

So I'm supposed to say I'm not a terrorist because every Muslim is automatically a terrorist by assumption? Jeff, you disappoint me. I believe in peace whereas you let every news program convince you otherwise.

Well...

There is more nuance to it than that.

I don't like religion. However, I am OK with people having religious beliefs, although I personally don't give them any moral weight in any sort of debate.

I purposefully avoid your posts about religion, since our last flare-up. You replied to my joke not on your journal, presumably with a joke (that I still can't find), and there you have it.

I'll ignore the rest, since we seem to be unable to discuss broad religious topics without them being personal attacks on you, which I'm not interested in.

I'm done.

No I'm not leaving, although someone here would really appreciate that I'm sure. I'm done with trying to convince someone that I'm not an uncivilized animal. Let's drop it Jeff, you don't convert me, I don't convert you, end of story.

...

What I see here is 'Iran is a screwed-up country,' not 'Islam is a screwed-up religion' and especially not 'All religion is bad.' So not only was this little 'showcasing of reality' inappropriate in the way it was used, it was also sort of incorrect.

And Lonewolf, you're definitely not an uncivilised animal.

Only-slightly-relatedly: I've actually been questioning my atheism recently after seeing some of the beautiful and good things that God - or at least some power I don't understand - has done.

And here I was...

Thinking jeff was showing inappropriate pictures to Oasians. I'm glad that scandal has been averted.

This is none of my business, but it's an interesting post, and I feel like commenting anyway.
