Good things about being a gay guy:
1) You learn to accept femininity. I can't tell you how often I've seen straight guys act like slaves because they're obsessed with seeming completely macho.
Example: My dad pays 30$ every month for a crappy haircut. The reason? He goes to only hair cutters in town that have a sports themed interior. Apparently, he hates the "feel" of Cost Cutters.
2) You have something resembling a community. At the very least, you have common experiences with complete strangers. You'll probably be able to relate with other gay people, including potential dates/boyfriends/spouses.
Example: Oasisjournals.com
3) It can make you question the "rules" that you grew up with. If you are forced to think for yourself on one issue, it's easier to learn how to think for yourself on other issues. By making your own decisions and views, you become more individual, or "your own person".
Example: It's part of the reason most gay people are tolerant of trans and other gender-different people, even if gay people don't always have a perfect understanding of their issues.
4) It makes your life a wee bit harder. Okay maybe a lot harder. But life sucks if you don't have some form of adversity. And if you make it through coming out to yourself and accepting that shit, you'll be that much more awesome.

LMAO. Sports-themed salons exist? Isn't a barber shop just as manly?
