For those of you who don't know, I'm a (wannabe) poet and writer. I use to write, like, one poem a day. But I haven't finished a poem in months. When I sit down and try to write something, I just...can't do it. I have ideas in my head, phrases that would go great in a poem, but I am no longer capable of putting it on paper. This bothers me. I would normally dismiss it as a case of writer's block, but writer's blocks don't typically last for 8 months. Meehhh I wanna write a poem, damn it! I have so many great ideas! I just don't know how to string them together and make the poem flow naturally.

Anybody got any ideas on how to solve this pressing issue? Any of my fellow poets?

That's suckish!!

I'm sorry you're having such bad writers block! I know it can be unbearably frustrating. You might try (don't laugh) meditating. Bring your mind and body to complete peace and stillness. Clear your mind and float on air. It might help spring interest back into the subject. Good luck!

Okay, our lives are eerily

Okay, our lives are eerily similar... I think we were each other in past lives.

Story time! When I was 12, 13ish, I found out I could write poems and I wrote like a fiend, and I wrote and wrote and wrote. Then I got into high school, and it dwindled off a little, and then after I'd been through my first relationship, I picked up a pen, heart aching, and the words just didn't come. Had I felt like that at a time before, the words would've come in a torrential downpour.

Ever since then I've written, say, a handful of complete poems. Over three and a half years, less than five whole works- I'd probably have done at least that in a month when I was younger.

I honestly have no idea. The fire to write just fizzles out.

Or maybe you're my long lost Canadian twin sister...or something...That would be cool.

I'm kinda the exact same way. Most of my poems are written on an impulse. If I force myself to write, the words end up all mushed together awkwardly and it just doesn't flow. I dunno. I think I'll keep trying every night until it comes to me (here's a fun fact about me: I can only write poems at night. Never during the day)

SAME THING HERE!

I started writing a novel when I was in 8th grade, did this thing to exercize writing ability which was a competition to see who could write a novel in a month. I finished, easily, but since then, when I got in High School, I hit like a brick wall. My first novel frmo 8th grade is sitting alone in my hard drive, and that means I haven't wrote for about...

Ohmygosh I wrote a novel

Ohmygosh I wrote a novel too! It was 350 pages long, and I wrote it when I was 12. But that was when I was a fantasy nerd, so it was about dragons and magical powers and junk. Haha, it was sooo stupid. So I deleted the whole thing. I'm far beyond my fantasy phase now. There's no need to keep it.

Well, I like to write, but not like that-

When I lose the inspiration to draw (Art block :P) I pretty much just don't DRAW, but I doodle. I go, "Okay if I don't have the patience to draw a picture, I'll draw obscure things I never do to fine my skills while I have no inspiration".

So write simple haikus about items around the house or something :P Do stuff you've never done. Or read! But if you keep the writing in your mind, it'll come :)

You're an artist? Ha, I thought that when you were talking about drawing your boyfriend a picture that was a one time thing...Stupid me. I can't draw worth a shit. I can do stick figures though...

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I have random three or four line stanzas written down all over the place. Mayhaps I should post some on here some time.

*turns green with envy* Ohmygosh those pictures are uh-mazing! Those must take ages to do. I would love to see some of your recent art. If I had been on here when you posted them, I definitely would've commented.

Okay, next time I post a journal, I shall share a poem. Probably one that I wrote awhile ago, before this damn writer's block. Feel free to tell me if you don't like it. I appreciate honesty.

Haha! No, no.

Drawing along with cooking is my hobby. My music is my life's blood. Sometime when I get good enough, I'll play something for you guys. I mean I could record my private lessons piece for you guys right now, but I don't know if you'd want to hear me. I'm not famously good and most people don't really appreciate single musical talent until people are that good.

Anyways, thank you soooo freaking much. I've been artblocking lately and I need inspiration. If anyone gives me things to draw, I'll draw them for you guys. Forreal :)

I'm really only artistically talented. Like we took that career test the other day to show you what you're good at, and my artistic blew up the charts compared to my other ones. So this is really all I'm good at XP
