My God, Stress is probably one of the worst feelings created within the human psyche. But what leads to my stress is money, sure I live in an Upper-Middle Class Family but there's also four children within the house and both my parents work full time and have to pay for my things (Car/Insurance, School Fees, etc...) and being the oldest and most mature child I wish I could do much more. I've been offered a position as a Lifeguard and all I have to do is pay $200 for lifeguard classes. So I figure I could eventually pay back my parents but I just wish alot more stuff was free in this world.
It also doesn't help that I'm taking College Courses in High School and so I have to drive to the community college and pay for books and class fees. Which would be alright if money wasn't tight in our household. I have to worry about Gas, Buying my one book for college which costs 90 dollars, and taking lifeguard courses. I guess the true meaning of this post is not to barrage the reader with my problems but also express how bad I feel for putting my parents through this hell. It just makes them stressed having to pay so much, and makes me feel like a spoiled brat.
I love my parents and I just hope they don't get so angry having to pay for so much. What do you guys think? Am I sane for getting stressed about these things?

I know what you mean
I know what you mean at the moment for my art course i go through loads of printer ink which costs about 14 pounds (don't know what that is in dollars) for one cartridge and only got one today and i have used it all up nearly! It is costing so much every time to get and like you we are not poor but it just adds more stress and unwanted debt to us. The problem is that i really do need it as the more i print of the more work i have so the better grade i will get.
I know!
I know! Oh and BTW those London protests were insane, just thought I'd say that considering you're British (assuming cause you use Pounds).
Anyways, I know! And it doesn't help that with my family's income I wouldn't qualify for any financial aid which is BS. But I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one. And thanks for replying :]
Haha yes
Haha yes they were quite a bit wild. My older brother lives in london at the moment and goes to uni and so went to the " Peaceful " protests that the had but he said that he was actually on his bike and he rode past the bad protests and he said it was awful and pretty disgusting the amounts of people were going for. But the reason is because in our election the group that won ( Liberal democrats) said that they would ABOLISH student fee's when really they have to do a complete U TURN and increased them up from about 3 grand for year to nearly 9 grand which is why everybody is so furious about it. Plus they wont to take away our financial aid which is EMA'S which means poorer people who did have a chance to go to uni with this and start a future cant no more.
Sorry for my mini rant just wanted to explain that there was a big reason behind them-but i don't believe in the way that some of students brought out the message.
Parenting works sort of on a
Parenting works sort of on a 'Pay it Forward' basis. Parents raise their children with the understanding that they will get nothing material in return until they are old and retired, if ever. All they expect is - no, scratch that, they don't really expect anything. Which is not to say, of course, that you shouldn't do anything for them: you should, but it's not really an obligation. Your time will come (if you have children of your own) to be the one doing all the giving. The very fact that you're worrying about this and taking on any responsibility at all shows an uncommon maturity and nobility on your part.
Um, what MacAvity just said.
Um, what MacAvity just said. I guess stress generally is just an unproductive emotion anyway, at least in this case.
I'm sort of in a similar scenario, my parents are definitely not poor but I study overseas (New Zealand) which means my education and living costs is triple that of the country they work in. A meal will cost as little as $3 there, and it will cost over $10 here. I don't qualify for financial aid either because my parents combined income is still too high (although only one of them really supports me anyway). I think what helps is definitely stress less, just be a bit conservative with money and be practical about what you can do to help. Apply for any scholarships and take on a part time job (lifeguard sounds good) as long as it isn't at your study's impediment. Given you've thought about this, at least you appreciate what your parents do for you.
