Although... I think elimination of pleasure was part of the primitive thought processes behind the barbarism! Sex (however you define it) was not meant to be pleasureful; pleasure = sin. This is our Christian heritage... but it really got nasty when the Roman church attempted to improve upon the seeds Paul planted.
