Arguments for both sides.
No: I've had these shoes for two years. They have drawing from all of my friends on them, and people that I'll never see again. The first person I dated even conributed, through a complicated post online, printout, copy method. They're -my- shoes, they make up some tiny part of me, and I love them. I only ever wear them to school or into a city - nowhere that they'd normally get ruined. Mind you, they're really dirty, but that's mostly because I've worn them so long. If I did continue wearing them, I'd be more careful than I ever was before.
Yes: They have Matt Smith's signature on them. If you don't know who he is... just imagine your hero. One of the few people that you would actually ask for a signature from. Now imagine they signed your shoe. That's how I feel right now. There's always the option of getting new white converse and starting over, too..
