So. Today, on the bus, I was sitting between 2 friends.
One, on my left, said "So, have you told your mom you're gay yet?"
Me: "Closer every day, but not quite"
Guy on right: "Wait, you're really gay?"
Me: *Dumbfounded look*
It has been mentioned, multiple times, by me and other people, that I'm gay in front of him. However, he apparently he thought I and other people were joking. Every time.
On that bus ride, he asked me if I was serious. 4 times.
What sort of straight guy makes jokes that they're gay multiple times and never actually denies that they're gay?
People have been thinking for the whole year that T is gay. He acts like it. More than I do, I think. But nobody believes me when I openly say I'm gay. Weird.
Do I need to get a lisp for them to believe me? A billion rainbows? The one I already wear isn't enough? Do I need a boyfriend?
Ooh, and it also turns out that this friend is a homophobe.
Oh gawd. Now that I think of it, this is most likely the case for uber Christian, one of my best friends. He might not have made the connection that I wasn't lying whenever I say I'm gay.
I can only hope he's not a homophobe too. He's one of my best friends.

He's incredibly nice too. I bet that during the civil rights movement, there were some INCREDIBLY nice white guys, who were also incredibly racist douches.
It's usually because of the enviroment you grow up in, as most people seem to lack the ability to form ideas that have not come out of the mouth of someone they trust.
Hence, I hate E, as she's kinda nice, but she doesn't think for herself, and so she's a homophobe, even if she doesn't know why.

Yea, you're right about the
Yea, you're right about the disposition of homophobia being a learned ability (AKA socialized). But so are most dispositions. And I hardly think that that therefore gives us justness in our hatred towards another individual who has a disposition not akin to ours.
I mean, if you were grown up to dislike meat, does that mean people should hate you, because you're not "thinking for yourself"?
Sure, intolerance, specifically homophobia, sucks. But so doesn't intolerance towards others because of their particular socialization.
Ha
Well when they say " No way are you gay dude" then just grab them by the crotch and ask if you can prove it to them...they will believe you then. LOL...Just kidden....Sometimes people do not believe the truth or dont want to believe it even when it hits them in the crotch...oops...ment face there...Um...Anyway...your doing good it sounds...so keep it up...they will believe you with time. Besides the so called friend who turned out to be a homophobes is more then likely not truly a friend in the first place. Statics prove that those who deny gays the most have the highest tendency to be gay themselves.
Good luck
