In Memoriam

My cat died today. Her name was Neu. Snow in Catalant. She wasn't white, but her name meant snow. She was 12 years old, a very cute Siamese. These last few days she was sort of sick, but never in pain. The veterinarian thinks it was cancer, or a cardiac arrest, but I don't really care. I'm going to miss my cat a lot. I had to wake up early this morning to go to do something, but my father woke me up earlier to tell me she was dead. An aunt was very nice and she allowed us to bury her in her farm outside the town, instead of having to send her in a truck full of other dead animals to be incinerated like she didn't mean nothing to anyone. We buried her next to two palms, in the coffee plantation. We buried her wrapped inside her blanket, which was my blanket when I was a baby. The blanket had my initial and a big heart. I'll miss her and her blanket. I could only cry all the way through the burial. I was going to say something, but I couldn't She knows what I wanted to say, anyway.

I'll miss napping with her, the way she always found a nook in between me and the sofa to slide in and sleep. I'll miss her when I'm having breakfast, lunch or dinner, since she would always sit to my left side. I'll miss feeding her a few grains of rice, I'll miss having someone to talk to at night when everyone else is asleep, and I'll miss hugging her all the way through a scary movie. I'll miss putting food on her plate every morning and trying to find her in one of the terraces when it was sunny.

I am just really sad right now, and I thought it would be nice to write a little something to remember her. I never thought I could feel so strongly about an animal, but here I am, crying my heart out for my little, sweet, cat. August 31, 1998- February 27, 2010.

My condolences

I have been greatly moved by your words. I think that being able to love is a wonderful gift... Clearly, what you experienced over the many years with Neu by your side, was, indeed, love.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The bond and love felt for animals I completely understand, and my heart goes out to you.
