Another Loved One Gone
Raja, my best friend and constant companion these past 13 years, passed away a few minutes ago. There was no fear or pain. He was in his own home, lying on my pillow, covered with a warm blanket, listening to me tell him how much I love him. It was a sad, beautiful moment, and one of countless wonderful memories of him that I'll keep forever.
He was sweet, loving kitty, and he always took good care of me. I don't know what I'm going to do without him.
I love you, Raj.

Ouch!
Been there. Micky haunted us for a while after someone killed her. She had a distinctive meow, and both me and Brian heard her at the same time a few times. After Micky was killed, we took in another feral kitten. They have so much in common, I sometimes wonder if Alex is a recycled Micky.
Raja and Jon are probably waiting, but what's a lifespan in eternity, huh? Do what ya gotta do to get to where you're going according to your pre-life contract with yourself.
I'd get another kitten AFTER you move to Port Jervis. Or maybe two. Most cats do seem to like company. It's not a relacement, but a whole new relationship.
I looked up Port Jervis on the web. Beautiful place. Being able to move there is one part of your life I envy. So's your job, in fact. (I have been officially downsized 2/2/10. I'm on the last of the reformatting. I'll have it pretty cleaned up and only in need of fine tuning. I'll have Brian copy everything to CD as soon as it's done, and we'll mail it to you in case we get nuked or something. Right now there's rumours of Iran doing something obnoxious to us 2/11/10, but we'll see. If anything happens, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 'false flag' terror attack, and we use the self-induced attack to attack Iran.)
If you got Raja as a kitten, 13 is kind of young to die. A lot of the cat food is toxic. Titanium dioxide? Cobalt compounds? Phosphoric acid depletes calcium, and other additives cause cancer. I'd avoid the big brands like Purina. Ours get person food like fish steaks (wild caught preferred), shrimp, and canned fish or chicken in addition to Nutro food, which doesn't have meat byproducts. Chicken liver is good, too. That and fish have taurine.

This kind of hits a raw nerve for me though, as I can relate. I lost my cat, Chewy, last year. She was 22 years old, and was with me my entire life. I, however, didn't get to say goodbye.
