Farewells

Saying goodbye is so hard.

I'm packing for my flight to Taiwan tomorrow. I'll be away from New Zealand for over a month. By then a lot of friends will be off to other places in New Zealand like Christchurch or Wellington, or places as far as Australia, France or Israel. So I've been pretty busy (and early) with saying my goodbyes.

I hung out with Emma and Miriam at the zoo the other day. Emma is the prettiest girl ever. A lot of guys in our year were really intimidated by her, but we grew so close. She's stuck up, but she deserves to be. We have the greatest times in town together. France will be perfect for her.

Miriam. What can I say? Israel is her calling. She's going there for a gap year. She's always really into her "jewish things" and this trip would mean the world to her. She is the most down to earth person ever. Her family is also very kind to me, and always invites me over for tea and dinner and their jewish festivals (ignore my ignorance). Even her pets love me (she has two cats called Harry and Hermione - go figure). I'll miss her so much.

Then tonight I hung out with JK and Em and Jing. JK is going to Australia to study forever, and Em is going down to Christchurch to do broadcasting. Em is our head girl, I went to homecoming with her, I spent new years with her group in Taupo, and we did musicals and choirs together throughout high school. We are so close. She's amazing, so bubbly, such a ray of sunshine. She's worried about not knowing anyone in Christchurch, but I tell her she'll make friends no problem. She dropped me home tonight and she said there's always going to be a special place for me in her heart - and she'll keep an eye out for hot gay guys in Christchurch if I go down. Hehe.

Then there's JK. What do I say. JK are actually initials for his name. He's so funny. I wish I went to new years with him in Gisborne. There were this massive music festival where people camped for a week and got drunk and raged and made friends. My closest group of guy mates were all down there - and he told me "you cannot believe how many times we said 'why isn't Max down here'". JK and those group of guys are some of the funniest people I know. And they totally don't mind me being gay. I'm just "one of the guys" if you know what I mean. And they don't mind going to gay clubs with me as well. It's actually kind of funny. I think I have a little crush on JK. Tonight the four of us JK, Jing, Em and me were just lying on the trampoline staring at the stars - and then I saw a shooting star - and I was told to make a wish - then JK started rubbing his leg on mine and then said "so did your wish come true". Kind of, hehe, but wow! Anyways, he was just trying to be funny. During the night he was also like "I still owe you a night at one of the gay clubs!". But then he proceeded to talk about the boobs of this girl he met at Gisborne. Great. I'm so over all this wishful thinking. He's going to Australia to study music. I won't be seeing him in a while. Perhaps never.

Then there's Ash. He's awesome. He's going down to Wellington. He's even waking up at six tomorrow morning just to drop me off at the airport. I think I might cry. I don't know. He's one of the guys who have been really close to me as well.

Es is also coming to the airport at half past six in the morning too to see me. Not really because I'm leaving, because I'll be back in New Zealand but by then she'll be down in Otago. Man my friends are adorable.

I've got the most amazing group of friends. Now we're all going our separate ways.

Have a great home trip...

...and please don't forget to return to Oasis, and to all your many old and new friends-to-be here and in New Zealand.

In the meantime, you'll be truly missed :-(
