Piano- Help!

Dracofangxxx's picture

Can anybody give me some links to good songs for a person *cough* kinda new to playing piano? I have a little bit of experience reading the music (because I've played viola for four years) but it's hard for me to transpose it... Either way, I'd like some good songs. Popular or not. So far I can play the first 14 measures of "Imagine" by John Lennon :D

Thanks!

Well.

If you need to start from the very basics, I have "A first piano book for little jacks and jills". That was MY first book 7(?) years ago.

Actually...

You might be surprised by the number of instructional videos on YouTube for playing piano.

If you like the Beatles...

Hey jude for piano is fairly simple.

Other than that, I would recommend starting slow with a primary book.

Piano adventures is a good book series if you want to invest the time and money for it :)

How confident are you

How confident are you reading music?

Bach's prelude in C major, is very simple to play if you can follow sheet music already- just ignore the fugue because that's harder:

(it's this one here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KQW2YnCUrE)

But really you need to buy a beginner's piano book. I recommend Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course.
