A couple days ago, I realized I need to stop whining. I'd been whining because I started swimming in 5th grade, when most of those guys getting the 22's on their 50 free probably started around age 4. I've been whining about that.
Instead, I should be THANKFUL that the scoliosis I got (and don't have anymore :P) got me started swimming THEN, and that I have even the oppurtunity to swim.
Additionally, if I want to get a Sectionals or any other incredibly fast time, I must bust my ass every day, and stop worrying about what's already happened.
Therefore, as part of my "revival" of swimming, I swam over 4 miles yesterday, scootered 2 more, and did 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 crunches, 100 jumping jacks, and 100 squat jumps.
It's pretty rough, but Sectionals would make my YEAR, not just my day. I shall not let up!

Believe it or not, I'm kind
Believe it or not, I'm kind of envious of that physical activity. Not the pain or soreness incurred due to it, but rather the dedication you have to the sport to do that much work.
Although I suppose I might have that dedication if my school had an alpine ski team... That would of course mean I would nee some race skis, and I think I could convince my dad to get me a pair of some Völkl RaceTigers. They have a titanium bottom ; ]
Anyway, enough about skis. What you've got going is pretty admirable, regardless on how you fare in competition.
Good luck! Yup, I agree what
Good luck! Yup, I agree what you have already is really impressive already!

Wonderful!
It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed.

You're absolutely right...
...I've never seen swimmerguy whine! It's not his character.
I fervently hope, however, that he doesn't become overly goal-driven (i.e., OCD or something similar).
The goal that everyone respects is: always do your best in all endeavors. I'd love to see Chad exceed the 13-year-old's record... but not if it must come at the expense of other qualities...
Hard practice should be interspersed with reasonable breaks allowing strained muscles time to relax and repair!!!
