When is the right time for one to start coming out to family and whatnot?
i've been thinking that it should be sooner rather than later, I'm already twenty-four as it is.... I have been under the impression that my sexuality should remain a non-issue to others until the day comes that I am in serious enough relationship.
Does one appear stronger coming out alone or with another by their side?
The thing is, I don't want to shock anybody.
My mother will be shocked because, well... she's just an idiot.... A narcissistic twit. She doesn't understand that other people have thought processes different than her own. Mother would be okay with the news, she would just be very very very VERY annoying about it. (All this can be said about Nana as well. They are practically the same individual)
Brother would be cool, especially considering how progressive he is. He may even already kind of know, or at least have an idea... Still, he's my older brother.
Awkward.....
Then there is my father's side of the family, but I'll get to them some other time...

I think...
anything related to sexuality and coming out is always a single step. So, never:
"I'm gay... and I've been secretly in love with you for 7 years!"
"Mom, I'm gay, and this is my domestic partner, Kika."
It's really a solo event.
I think your sexuality is a major issue, and your sex life is a non-issue. Not making a joke there, just think you being into guys is fair game for all. You liking your balls played with or else you can't come... eh, maybe don't need to tell the whole family.
If your Mom is a fag hag, no worries there. So, if you know you have someone in your corner, gives you good footing to tell te rest, or just let them find out.
Of course, another option is just being out rather than coming out. Just one day, stop hiding. Do nothing to stay in the closet, and monitor yourself to make sure you don't slip. And then, when it comes up, let it.
I'll be in NYC next week, want to hang out at piano bars? I'm only 41 ;-)

i'll go to any bar, just as
i'll go to any bar, just as long as there isn't a piano.
