Along Our Merry Way

Today( well technically yesterday) was fun. I met up with Littlefoot after her therapist appointment then we walked over to Starbucks. Usually when we're just getting drinks or snacks or whatever I pay for the both of us but today however I had to be stingy and save what little cash I had for transit fare. Bastard MTA. I hate having to cough up $2.25 per ride. at first the guy at the register charged us together although I had told him not to, it's my fault he didn't hear me. I was chewing a piece of gum at the time.(whoops)

On our way over to her Dad's office we came across a middle aged blind man with a cane getting ready to cross the street.
" Am I able to cross" He asked to anybody that might be in his proximity. Just as he said this the orange hand began to flash.

" No. The light just changed, Actually, walk with us and you'll be fine"
We began to cross,
" Littlefoot c'mon."(Note: I addressed my friend by her actual name, not Littlefoot)
" Littlefoot??" The man asked me clearly confused
" I was talking to my friend, she's on your other side"

" Am I in front of HSBC Bank?" he asked me as he figured his way up the curb.
" Yeah practically" I said to the man as he found his way around the railing.
" Are you going to want me to get the door for you?" I asked him, feeling my face get hot as soon as the words escaped my lips. It was a stupid question. Not necessarily offensive and I know that i meant well, but it was still stupid.
'"No. I got it. "
The man felt along the glass pane.
" Other direction" The man found the door handle, opened it and went in without a word.

"Yeah. You're welcome" I said aloud as Littlefoot and I continued on our way.
Really, What should I have expected?
