Today at assembly our headmaster announced the ball details for this year. (we actually call homecoming the ball)
All is well, everything sounds awesome then suddenly I hear -
"Everyone must attend with a date... of the opposite gender."
We are a big christian private school, so that's not a surprise - I've expected it but I always thought it would be a great injustice.
I'm out and an elected student leader (more visibility) - so most people tend to know I'm gay. People have asked me time and again whether I will take a guy, but I knew this was going to happen so I've got a girl date already. (and guess who - I scored the head girl hehe). Anyways the point is I had come to accept this is how the system would work until...
WHAT SURPRISED ME - is at lunch after the announcement, my friend Asher started rounding up people for a 'petition' against it. It's not so much a petition, but more like an army of people who are willing to speak against the school institution on this matter. He seems so much more passionate about it than I am, and he's not even gay! I'm quite moved lol.
So far we have the entire scholars group involved. Our premiere debating team (Auckland champs - and that includes Asher) are also in on the cause... my friends and his friends also seem to be keen - and that's already more than half the elected student leaders, student council and a significant portion of the student body.
Regardless of how much we can achieve...
We're going to kick up shit. Just wait, there will be drama.

OoO! Drama. Fun fun. I hpoe everything turns out fine. We don't have any problems at our school (at least not in the faculty). Best of luck!
Peace
If homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in queer to work: "Hello. Can't work today, still queer."
Cheers Uncertain! If you
Cheers Uncertain! If you need sign-ups from another countries, send me the petition XD. I would be so angry if I was in your shoes... dang homophobes
Thanks
Thanks! Lol, I'm not that angry - in fact I'm quite complacent right now. I tend to think it's quite limited what we can do, and it might not be as 'epic' as it sounds, but nonetheless always give it a shot.
We're probably presenting it to the school board at the next meeting. Or at least writing a formal letter of complaint to the headmaster to start with.
Keep us
Keep us updated!
