Are you sure you're gay?

I just got asked by my mom " Are you sure you're gay?" It wasn't said in a mean way it was actually rather funny. I've been hanging out with my male (gay) friend M ALOT! And i've grown attached to his smell. Well i dropped him off at work today (i'm picking him in like 3 hours again) and so he just let me keep his hat for the time being and his sweater. I'm wearing both and my mom goes "those aren't yours". I"m like no their M's but I love them. Then she said "are you sure you're gay?? Most girls who get attached to a guy's clothing and start wearing them are normally straight and falling for that guy." I love him and i love his smell but not in a romantic i want to take him to the bedroom way. It's weird but we're really close friends and I trust him soo much and have only known him a short while. (November- met at gay group hanging out since Jan or FEB)

Ah, the Much-maligned Nose

The olfactory sense is governed by the most primitive part of the brain, so the fact that you find the smell of him comforting would suggest a deep level of trust coming from your pre-conscious mind. More often than not, these instincts (good or bad) turn out to be correct, but we tend to dismiss them in favor of the more "rational" criteria dictated by our higher brain functions. That's usually when the trouble begins.

My advice? Keep following your nose.
