It's my favorite holiday. It really is. Not so much because of where it comes from, but because, for me, it's a time for family. We celebrate xmas, sure, but we don't all get together for it, cause we're not exactly christian. lol

But Thanksgiving is amazing. We all get together, however many of us there are, and spend all day cooking and listening to music, and talking, and playing games and just generally having a wonderful time.

The one major downer this year is that my aunts won't be here. I'm really, really bummed about that. They, above all others but my parents, are Family. They were in the room when I was born....they're two of the most important people in my life. And they can't come this year. It really, really sucks. Cause maybe I won't be home next year. Maybe I'll have to work, and maybe I'll just be too far away. I wanted this year to be special, and even though I know it will be, it won't be the same. It's hard enough that Grandma won't be here. God, I miss her so much sometimes....

But R will be here, for everything except the actual feast, so that's wonderful. See, T-giving is really a 3 day event. Wednesday night is the crab feast, then Thursday all day is family time, and then we do Friday brunch. She has to go be with her grandparents Thursday night, but other than that, she'll be here, and that makes me so happy. She knows, too, how I feel about Thanksgiving....that it's family time. So she knows that for her to be invited is a validation of her place in my Family (screw relations, she's family). Actually, she already knows that, but still. It's good for her to remember.

I need this so much. These 3 days next week are the most precious of the year for me. It's when I reconnect with my soul, and where I come from. It's my time to relax, really relax, and be surrounded by love and support.

AND i get to make applesauce, and tons and tons of cookies, and mashed potatoes, and I'm gonna help my cousins (they're 3 and 6 years old) make cookies, so that's awesome! And mom makes break, and the turkey, and there'll be all sorts of nummy other stuff to snack on!! lol

So yeah, I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving!!! :D
