what are some good websites/books/magazines that i could find at borders or the library?
You're on a good website, so that's an easy one. :-)
Not many gay magazines, so Borders carries Out, Advocate, and Attitude (UK), I think.
Books, too vast to say, what are you looking for?

Have you tried searching amazon.com? If nothing else they can point you in the right direction as far as lesser known magazines and books, also you can probably get things special ordered through borders, I'm not positive, but i know that most stores are willing to do that.
But, if you have a more specific theme, I might be able to help you out--I could write you up my own personal list, but I need a bit more direction.
Are you looking for specifically gay male media? Lesbian? Teen gay/lesbian? Queer studies?
Also, what you'll be able to find in your library is likely to depend on location as well, I can find all kinds of cool shit, but I'm in the bay area.
I work at borders and we have an entire section devoted to glbt magazines and another one for books. I don't know if this holds true for other stores but I would definitely check it out.

the big question is... what are you looking for? "Gay" doesn't really narrow things down enough.
whoops sorry. looking for lesbian/bisexuality, fiction or nonfiction, specifically teen-oriented, or going up to college age, i would love magazines. queer studies would be cool too. but i live in a very liberal town outsideof sacramento, but it has almost zero gay books/magazines. an independent magazine store has "curve", but i want more. isn't there more to being queer than lesbian musicians and "dykes to watch for"?
novels, non-fiction and websites top of my wishlist.
There really aren't that many gay magazines, Curve is all that comes to mind.
There are a ton of favorite book threads on here, but top of mind are:
Keeping You A Secret by Julie Anne Peters
grl2grl by Julia Anne Peters (these are short stories, so maybe better for bookstore reading, as I'm not sure if you intend to buy these and take them home, or just read them there)
Annie On My Mind by Nancy Garden
Both authors have many YA books.
I only log onto one gay youth website, this one, heh.
To do with websites. Oasis is the best one:D But Afterellen is good for info on Lesbian movies/ TV shows, Lesbian/Bi characters on TV shows/movies and lots of other Lesbian related things. And their article/blogs can be really funny too.
Books: I havn't actually read any Lesbian themed books but I've heard that Keeping You A Secret by Julie Anne Peters is REALLY REALLY good. I want to read it myself but I havn't had any luck finding it in the library or bookstores.
Awesome! now i can officially start on my long journey of queerness :D
