DRAMA

....Club

Okay, being that this is one big website full of queer I'm going to guess that at least SOME of you have done theater before... XD Because, at least in my school the Drama Club probably has more gay/bi/whatever people in it than the GSA.

I need a one minute monologue by tomorrow and I don't know what to do. Where do I get a monologue? I don't even know which one would be good. I've never really done any real acting before. I would have loved too but never got the chance. I got cast as the TREE in the Wizard of Oz as a kid. D: D: D:

Though I get the feeling that it was based more on looks than on lack of talent.

Doesn't matter, I didn't stick around to play the part anyways. I became home schooled that year.

ANYWAYS... What was I saying? Oh yeah. Monolouge. I need one.

Help?

Theatre! Drama! A one minute

Theatre! Drama!
A one minute monologue... you can try something from Albert Camus' The Stranger... or something from Ionesco, not a complete monologue but just a little excerpt from a character's lines. The good thing about Ionesco is that you don't even have to be normal: you can be as strange and loud (or quier) as you want.
Of course, Shakespeare's a classic, but it's difficult.

OH. Wait. The Wicked Witch from Sleeping Beauty and the Witch!!!!!!

So, looks like everyone is having a marvelous time. Hello, good to see you. Nice to meet you. Hi there, I’m the Wicked Witch, here’s my card. Let’s do lunch sometime. Ah, and here’s the birthday girl, surrounded by all of these gifts and her good little fairy friends. And here’s King Jonathan and Queen Jessica. You certainly invited a great number of people. But somehow you seemed to have overlooked the one person who could have been your most delightful guest. But no, no, don’t apologize. My feelings are hurt, yes, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t brought along a special gift for the princess. A brand new, never-seen-before, Curse of the Wicked Witch! “For all the tears you’ve made me shed, you’ll prick your finger on something pointy and fall down dead. And if your friends are feeling blue, in just one day they’ll drop dead too!” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (Runs off cackling… continues cackling looking for the exit.) How do you get out of this place? Oh – HAHAHAHAHA! (Exits.)

You can be totally

You can be totally extravagant with that monologue...and it's easy to memorise (you just need to learn the rhyme and the outline, the rest you can improvise easily in case you forget mid-performance).

That's the play's publisher info.

One of my favourite websites

One of my favourite websites for monologues is The Monologue Database:
http://notmyshoes.net/monologues/
They have a lot of good contemporary monologues as well as classical pieces.

Are you 'out' in drama club or are you looking for female pieces?
