ideas for raising awareness

I got an assignment in Government class today to pick a topic we're passionate about, and do something to help make a change or difference, or in general, raise awareness.

This includes volunteering for places, writing letters to political figures, or organizing some kind of event, protest, etc. [Or all!]

I'd like to do some kind of activity at school. Our school is fairly conservative, so it can't really be anything big [they wouldn't even let us promote the DOS] but I think we could still manage to pull off something.

I could use some suggestions. Please let me know if you've done anything successful at your school with your GSA or on your own, or if you just have a good idea =]

Much appreciated.

Hmm...

In the age of FaceBook, do you need their permission to promote anything? Seems like there are completely backchannel ways to do all this stuff online, no?

My only suggestion is to make sure you do positive things. For instance, I would never go to anti-war rally, but I'd have no issue marching for peace. Rallying people aroung negativity, societal ills, or such things usually have a negative element to them from the get-go.

Ummm, what high school do

Ummm, what high school do you go to? You can PM me if you don't want to say it here, BUT, you could have us come from LifeWorks and do our thang. :-) Does your school have a GSA? I know it seems like I'm bugging you in particular about LifeWorks all the time, but, thats how much I believe in it, hehe!
