Hello, I am new to Oasis Magazine. Allow me to introduce myself, I am a college student who is openly gay. I use "gay" in the general context as I actually identify as a lesbian. This is my first entry, I hope not bore you! A little bit of background now: I'm 21, born with a physical disability. My perception is that people assume I am a-sexual, if they're smart they realize that just because of my disability I'm not a-sexual. But, it seems to come as a surprise, when I tell people I am gay. I have even had a classmate comment to my face saying she didn't know I could be a lesbian because of the wheelchair as if i live under a rock or something!

Ha, that reminds me of what my friend said about a Big Brother contestant a few years back- that she couldn't be transsexual because she was Portuguese. Maybe that's not actually similar, but it made us laugh. Excellent logic all round.
Anyway, welcome to Oasis etcetera etcetera.
