Valentine's Day Mania?
Is it just me, or does Valentines Day make everything more complicated? If you're in a relationship, there's the pressure of doing something special, and also the guilt of "I shouldn't need a special day to show my love." If you're single, you feel bitter and depressed and sit at home eating heart-shaped chocolates. If you're thinking of asking someone out, you want to do it for V-Day but there's a ton of pressure, and you're worried that someone else might get there first or that they have other plans, or....... Argh. Thoughts on V-Day/United Bitter Singles Day?

Valentine's Day does make asking people out more complicated, but it's also a little easier if it's just for the sake of "having a Valentine".

If you can't tell people in you life that you care about them or they are important in your life without it requiring you to spend money, you're sort of screwed.

It does make everything more disgusting. I wish I could take a nice guy out for dinner, a film, or a play, you know. but I don't have a guy. Sucks. Instead, I am going in a 5-film with by best friend, who was just dumped by her bf.

As much as I agree with the 'it's just a gimmick to get people to buy stuff' and 'you don't need a special day to show your love' sentiments, Valentine's Day is a HOLIDAY. In my opinion, it's an excuse to be happy and have fun. Life is too dull without celebration. So I intend to live it out to the fullest. Don't take it too seriously. Just be happy.

An English teacher at my school has a large white-board in his classroom. Today, he had his students celebrate anti-valentines day by writing anti-valentines statements and song lyrics. There was a lot of bitterness displayed on the wall. I added an I (upside-down heart) You.

Well Valentine's day is almost over, but I couldn't help but be bothered by the fact that so many people called it V-Day. I was under the impression that V-Day is "a global movement to stop violence against women and girls". Sorry, that was my own private issue, but I needed to bring it up.
Well...
It is, as a lot of people stage The Vagina Monologues in major cities every year around Valentine's Day, but they tend to piggyback it on the holiday so it's kind of their own fault if any confusion exists.
