I have a photojournalism for Art this semester and was wondering if I could have some suggestions for lgbt related subject ideas... I may go down the "Gayborhood" but I don't know
The fact that it is photoJOURNALISM sort of indicates you don't need ideas or to stage anything. You're supposed to go document things.
Ask if you can take pictures one day at the Attic after-school drop-in. Just see what is happening around you and document it. If you set it up, it isn't journalism.
Go take pictures of my friend Scott Heim read from his book next month (I'm sure he'll give you permission):

Take pictures of yourself and document your harrowing youth as a gay boy! Your teacher will loooooooove it!
Or, take pictures of phallic/GLBT-dirty looking things and discuss society's hang-up with being dirty, or relate hidden symbols to gays having to hide in many cultures!
You could also just take pictures of random males and females and edit them to make everyone look GLBT, or if you see a group of guys or a group of girls out for something, just ask them for a picture and tell them you're doing a photojournalism project on . You could then take the picture and tell them you're really doing it on GLBT issues and then write about their reactions/willingness to have their pictures used!
If you are not getting confirmation e-mails from Oasis to complete your membership, don't hesitate to e-mail jeff at oasismag dot com. Be sure to include your username.
