opinions on the likelyhood shes gay...
Ok, im working as a research assistant for a professor....and im getting 'vibes' from her....lesbian kind of vibes. Not from her looks, shes not 'butch'....but ok, here are a few things about her that are kind of confirming my suspicions:
1) I checked out her facebook ..(yes indeed she has a facebook)....and she has quite alot of gay friends...a substantial number of gay male friends anyway that she actually hangs out with.....and she has met a few women randomly at 'retreats'. I know i know...straight women *could* do that too...but i dont know...i just dont see it...
2) No wedding ring...not that you HAVE to be married by 41, i have no idea really, im clutching at straws.
3) she just has that 'thing', about her ....or maybe its wishful thinking

Hmm...
A woman... that has gay friends.... aside from meaning nothing, I'd say I know more straight women that hang around fags than lesbians, as a rule.
As for finding out... this game goes away when you are out, once the double-blind guessing game is removed, it becomes rather common to find other queers.
My opinion is someone 41 doesn't matter either way, since you need someone you can date, not someone with whom you can resolve an oepidal complex.
I mean, I'm 39, and I never tend to date guys under 28. The keyword there is date, though. :-)

hey now jeff...in my defence i did not know she was 41 until i stalked her on facebook.....she looks about 30, and cute at that, which isn't terrible, considering im 23 myself. There...i think i've defended my non-oepidal state successfully :D
Oh im not out to her, im sure that will come with time though. Or maybe not, depends on the situation. T'is fun to speculate however sometimes.

Hmm, well, one of my older sisters has a bunch of gay male friends and randomly meets women (wait, what do you mean by meeting women exactly?)....but she's straight as far as I'm aware, what with her very male manfriend.
Jeff has a point though, 40s is probably a bit too old, I think my professor was only about...35.
Damn professors, being all discrete and secretive about their lives and then showing up on facebook so that we can fulfill our desires to stalk them and then become even more obsessed when we're unable to find clear answers.
My suggestion is that you drug her up so her defenses are down and then ask her, that's what I always do.
