Kuchen ist lecker.
((Cake is yummy))
Cake ist gut.
((Cake is good))
Magst du Kuchen?
((Do you like cake?))
It's funny.
How, when someone is speaking to you-
in a language you supossidly, don't know,
but are supossidly, 'learning'....
Sie beginnen einfach, und wiederholen Worter....
((THey start out simple, and repeat words...))
Over and over and over again
until you want to scream.
Kuchen this.
Kuchen that.
They shoudl try something interesting like
telling an addict
"Ich widerstehen, Drogen und Gewalt"
((I resist drugs and violence))
"Sie sollten widerstehen, Drogen und Gewalt"
((You should resist drugs and violence.))
Not sit there and repeat "cake" over and over again.
I speak German.
If they'd shut up,
they'd figure it out.

haha, fabulous! And so true. But look at you, remembering the language! =)
Be yourself. 'Cause if you're busy being somebody else, who's gonna be you?

I love german.... i took it
I love german.... i took it last year (tried to take it this year but not enough intrest in the class) i can speak german pretty well not fluently or anything. I mostly understand what's said rather then being able to make my own sentences and such.
I speak french too because well im Canadian... i started learning it in JK and stopped in grade 10.... i hated it so in grade 10 i didn't take it because i didn't have to anymore. Im getting better at it though because my friends are french immersion.
I can speak english... of course since i am writing in english right now. ~~~Fear is only a verb if you let it be.. don't you dare let go of my hand~~~
I love german.... i took it
It commented twice soo i'm making a new comment out of the double!
te gusta un pastel? i think
te gusta un pastel?
i think i'm saying that right....
"It's like Dillinger once told me, 'It's always darkest just before they turn on the lights!'"
Si...
Si. Dime el pastel, o alguien conseguiria el daño.
(Yes, give me the cake, or someone's going to get hurt)
"She's a mystery
She's too much for me
But I keep coming back for more
She's just the girl I'm looking for"

I totally agree. Someone should write a series of beginner-level language books for older age groups. Using a book intended for a 9-year old when you're a teenager or above is just demeaning.
This weekend I was studying from my french grammar text when I came across the sentence "elle a mis le feu au mantelas en fumant au lit." I was thrilled... but I do wonder if I'll ever need to know the french for "she set the mattress on fire by smoking in bed." It sounds unlikely, but I guess I should be prepared, 'cause if it happens, I'm definitely going to want to tell people about it.
