Hi Guys!
Sorry I have been absent lately. Two two novels going at once, plus some health issues, has kept me away more than I wish to be. I wanted to share this poem with you, though. A friend of mine posted it on her blog and I couldn't resist borrowing it. I hope you all have a wonderful 2008. One of my resolutions is to try and spend more time with you here on Oasis this coming year. I really do miss you all. Love, Patrick

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Be yourself. 'Cause if you're busy being somebody else, who's gonna be you?

YAY! WELCOME BACK! WE MISSED
YAY! WELCOME BACK! WE MISSED YOU! Glad to have you back around. But health and your work (the book) are top priorities and I understand that my friend.
Thanks, all of you. I missed
Thanks, all of you. I missed you too. I'm going to try really hard to get on here and contribute more often.
I've been battling the dragon, Depression for the past couple of months to the extent that it has nearly done me in on a couple of occasions. I think it would benefit some of you on Oasis who also live with clinical depression to share my ongoing battle so that you understand that you're not alone. Lots of people out there, myself included, are constantly struggling with this issue. I plan to write a long journal entry about it in the next day or so and will definitely start hanging out again as much as I can.
Meanwhile, if any of you ever need me for anything, you can always email me at pat@oasismag.com. I'm pretty good at replying promptly to all my emails. Also, my offer is still good for Oasis members to get free copies of my e-books. All you need to do is email me and tell me whether you want Book One, Orphan's Quest, or Book two, Scion's Blood, or both. Both books are selling well now and getting great reviews. I even had one of my teenage fans tell me he liked my books better than Harry Potter! And I didn't even have to pay him! I'm seriously considering framing that email and putting it on my wall.
Anyway, I'll be back soon with more. Let's all try to have a great 2008.
Love to all,
Pat
