Hillary answers a question about gay youth and suicide on YouTube (about halfway into the video):
Transcription:
"It's such a serious problem and I've done a lot of work on this in New York because I'm well aware of the depression and anxiety and frankly the high rate of suicide comparatively among gay teens. First, number one we've got to do everything we can to send a clear message that we value you. We value you as a person, you as a total person and we want you to feel accepted and respected in your community and you'll certainly have a president who feels that way. There need to be more services. Sometimes it's difficult in school and there's not a lot of understanding and sensitivity. We;ve got to do more to help prepare school officials and frankly your peers in school. Just because somebody doesn't understand doesn't mean they should to be a bully They need to really be taught and guided to be more accepting and that is something that I feel very strongly about. There's even a school in New York that I have supported that is just for gay teens because it is very difficult in many areas for people to find any acceptance whatsoever. We need more health services. We need more mentoring and assistance so that you don't feel so alone..."
Thanks to Towleroad for the video link and transcription.
put in a biased context
the whole thing was made for the sole purpose of making clinton look good which makes me skeptical of what she says. Also she didn't say how she was going to make schools/peers more accepting.

Hmm...
I don't think that makes it biased, just lacking any objectivity. Although, seeing that it is clearly Hillary addressing questions from supporters, it's not like they're promoting it as anything else.
Of course, I don't think it would matter much had that same question been put to Obama or Edwards. The answer would have been pretty much the same.

meow
i totally think she should be president, any woman would be better than a old fart man plus her hair is great!
Hmm!
For reference, the question is asked of her at 3:25. She does sound genuine, but at the same time I think we would all have to question how meaningful she is about what she says, she wants to get the votes and the way that she stressed YOU instead of just saying "them" made it seem to me like more of a campaign tool than a "here's how I will change the world" commentary. Not that it still wasn't genuine and nice, but hmm.
The fact that she essentially stated that she as President would support LGBT youth is reassuring though, but again as Jeff pointed out, the other candidates probably would've said something extremely similar!
Here is a very interesting thing I just spotted and it's actually as the video's name implies, regarding Barrack at a Gay Democratic Presidential Forum!
He articulates himself very well, and he actually says he thinks the States should "disentangle what has historically been the issue of the word marriage - which has religious connotations to some people - from the civil rights of couples"!
From my perspective, if an LGBT youth were to vote for a presidential candidate, they might want to be asking "Will this person REALLY make a difference for LGBT people? Will they pay any special attention to the problems we face, versus the problems of *their* affiliated groups, or any of America's other problem centres?"
You're Amazing.
I really wish we could have
I really wish we could have a woman president, just not this woman president- she was bought out of completing her project to fix our health care system, which disturbs me deeply- if they can just pay her to stop helping people like they did then. If she ends up becoming president (I am not voting for her) I sure hope she's matured beyond the political scandals she's been involved with in her past.
Hmm, mind expanding?
I realize I could search for the info myself, but would love to hear more from you on the problem parts of Ms. Clinton's past! Who bought her out of the health care fix plan? And what was that plan, if you know? Thanks!
You're Amazing.
