Okay, so. I feel like a bad person for it, but I have to admit that I HATE reading badly-written things. If someone just declines to hit the shift key, and so it's all lower-case, I'll still read something... not so much if they left out all their apostrophes, but I'd still probably read it. But when I see a piece of writing or a forum post with a bunch of r's and u's and that sort of stuff... arg. I just want to not read it. I start thinking that the person who wrote it is preppy and uses only chat-speak and is otherwise illiterate. Does anyone else feel like this? Someone who uses chat speak, come here and teach me that people who don't type whole words are intelligent, because it bugs me that my mind automatically jumps to these conclusions.

I'm with ya. Drives me up the wall when someone does it...I mean, i usually type in lowercase, but that's simply because i'm lazy. :)
but if it's misspelled or abbreviated to the point of being unreadable, it drives me insane. i mean, especially when people i know are intelligent do it.
i do it when i text, simply because my cell's prepaid, and it's easier, but i'm usually cringing all the way through it....
These gots peanuts and soap in 'um!
Totally agree.
If you don't like to capitalize, fine. But, honestly, learn to use punctuation. And to spell. Leetspeak drives me crazy. ______________________________________________________

If someone didn't take the time to write something properly, then you're under no obligation to pay attention to it.
There's nothing wrong with liking things that are beautifully writen, and the converse is you dislike things that are badly writen. It's like the difference between offering someone a bespoke suit to wear or a bin liner with arm holes.

I don't think I mind r's and u's as much as 'dat' 'da' or 'peeps'. :/
