Does anyone know someone close to them dealing with mental illness? My sister has serious issues. She something along the lines of Bipolar or schizoaffective or something. It can be heartbreaking sometimes. Does anyone have advice on how to cope with this??
Thanks :)
Me, myself and I...lol
Well, I have more than my fair share, with depression/ bi-polar on a severe scale, on top of PTSD and paranoia
My Dad is probably one of the most messed up people on the face of the earth. Because of his father's career as a ruthless druglord and all around bad guy, my dad has PTSD from his childhood, as well as from his involvement in Nam and the gulf war. He is also schizo, bi-polar, OCD (to a scary level), completely paranoid and suffers from multiple personalities...he is also a compulsive liar...well, he has more than his share of issues, and those often hit me pretty hard too, as I know alot more than I should about his side of my family and their "affairs" or "Buisness" anyway, his mental health affects mine, which is why we never talk anymore.
My advice to cope with it??? First off, get your sister some help. Second, talk to someone about it...not necessarily a therapist or anything, but someone you feel you can trust.
Good Luck, I know having a relative w/ mental issues can be hard sometimes.
Mental wounds not healing, driving me insane, i'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train- the ozzman
There is some one close at hand for you to talk to
Even if you are not religious...a religious leader..priest, minister, or teacher can be the one to talk to about this problem...If you feel uncomfortable with them then contact the local GLBT center for assistance on locating someone who is gay friendly for you...Talking to some one in here or on the net is like finding a nail in the tire and taking it to the local bar and grill to get it fixed...Too many wrong answers could be found...not that all here are such...Seek out local help there where u live.
