Makes me wonder...

Lots of activity tonight... which is why I'm still coming down from it all at 3 a.m. instead of sleeping to prepare for 9 a.m. yoga. Looks like I'll be hitting noon instead...

Went to see "Knocked Up," which was fun, but I'm not sure why the critics are tripping over one another to see who can write the most glowing review. It was OK, but the premise doesn't expand much beyond what you know going in. I also couldn't believe that, even if she wanted to keep the baby, she would then try and have a relationship with this guy she had a one night stand with, but whatever... good time.

Then off to have some vegan vietnamese... food, that is. I *wish* I found me a gay vegan vietnamese guy to date. Although, if I did, i wouldn't post on here that I had him between seeing a movie and...

Seeing Maroon 5 play an intimate club show. Probably 1,000 people or so, very small venue for them. Tickets sold out in seconds, especially since there were a lot of giveaways to see it, but I scored two tickets. Probably stood about 10 rows or so from the stage. Thankfully, a succession of friends bailed on going, which let me scalp the single extra ticket for $150, so looks like I'm going sneaker shopping tomorrow.

They only played for 75 minutes, which of course is my idea of heaven at a concert: no opening act, all killer no filler, and then they wrap it up quick and tidy? Beautiful.

But it seemed a little early to hit the clubs, so I knew the last showing of Mr. Brooks was starting in 5 minutes half a block away, so I jumped in that. I know Knocked Up is going to be the number one movie this weekend, but I was surprised how empty the theater was, although it wasn't the nicer theater. I figured it would get some traffic just from the people who couldn't see Knocked Up. But, two good movies.

So then I walked up Polk Street to check out NTouch, a gay Asian bar, intentionally walking on the seedier street to get hit on by the Latin tranny hookers, but I guess they all had clients, was kind of dead where they usually are. Speaking of dead, wow, NTouch had like 6 people in it. I was in and out of there in a heartbeat.

A bus was coming, though, and that bus would get me a block away from Dragon, "A Gay Asian Paradise," or so it calls itself. As I entered, they were playing a Maroon 5 dance remix of "Makes Me Wonder." Appropriate. Pretty packed. I immediately hit the dance floor (it is 1 a.m. at this point, so no time to waste. The place is open until 4 a.m., but I have no intention of ever seeing anything past 2:30).

The bartender who thinks I'm a recovering alcoholic gives me a nod when he gives me my water. Good to know he's rooting for me, except that I'm actually not an alcoholic, I just stopped drinking a few months back.

Some cute boys, but they all seem *way* too young, so mainly an eye candy night. Of course, my rule is that way-too-young guys that go after me? Well, they started it! But unless that's the case I leave well enough alone. Just had a really good vibe happening tonight, so wanted to keep it going. Had I skipped the second movie and hit the club earlier, my sense is that I wouldn't be alone now to be writing this. It just felt like that kinda night. :-)

Ran into a friend there, so danced with him and people he knew for some of the night. Bailed at 2 a.m., walked half the way home, and bussed the rest (since I had the all-night transfer at that point).

And that's it, my long night of entertainment.

See I saw Maroon 5 about

See I saw Maroon 5 about like three years ago now at Shepherds Bush Empire (capacity about 2000) and they were the worst established- not still practising in someone's living room- band I've ever seen live. I'm not exactly a fan but I was expecting more from them live- but they were possitively inert. They played a (thankfully) short set- although that was a rip off considering what we paid for the tickets.

But it sounds like you had a good night.

Glad you had a good night!

Glad you had a good night! Sorry you didn't hook up with anyone, nifty that you saw two movies though! Sometimes those great moods are seemingly meant to be bottled, or stored for future access, since I/we/you wish you could call them up every once in a while and be sugary sweet. If you know what I mean. :)
