Sorry I've Been MIA

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I've been absent for awhile. I don't really have much of an excuse except I needed a bit of a break. I don't know if I can hope to catch up on what's been going on here, but I'll try and take a look back and see what you've all been writing about.

As for me, I'm trying to catch up on my reading before I begin writing my third book in earnest. I sent off for the galleys of book two, so I have about two weeks to wait for those and then a two weeks before my First Reader group will begin posting messages to my message board. That's a whole month to kill before the revision process for Scion's Blood begins. Those of you who read my blog already know that the release date has been pushed back to November 30th. That's basically to give me time to build up enough capital to fund the marketing of it. I had originally planned to release the new edition of Orphan's Quest August 31st and then Scions Blood only a month later. What was I thinking? Like I'd have enough money to market both of them within 30 days! Dopey. Anyway, I've now got all three books coming out three months apart, which is a much more reasonable schedule. Okay, I've bored you enough with this stuff.

Back to reading. I'm working now on Seventy Times Seven by Sal Sapienza. After that I've got Doo-Lang Love by Chad Sosna and after that, if I have time, I'm going to tackle the Nightrunner Series by Lynn Flewelling (another Fantasy trilogy with a queer male hero). I doubt I'll have time to get through the whole trilogy because I need to get busy on my third book, Numen's Trust, in order to have it ready to publish by the end of February. Now that I've set myself a hard deadline, I'm a little nervous. I've never written a book on a deadline before. We'll see what happens.

In other news, though I'm definitely going to be sitting on milk crates and eating Raman Noodles for awhile, I'm still going to try and make the Chicago move at the beginning of July. It's financially impossible, but I like doing impossible things. Besides, I'm going insane in Maine (hey I rhymed!). I need to get back to city life. Besides, I got me a boyfriend there and I want to be with him. I also have a new marketing guy and hopefully he'll be able to set up some book signings for me there and elsewhere in the vicinity.

Well, that's my life in a nutshell. I remind anyone that needs my help or advice that you can always message me. I try to check my inbox every day or so, so even if you don't see me posting, I'm still here if you need me. Even if you don't need me, send me a note and tell me how you're doing. I like hearing from you guys.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer. Big hugs to everyone.

Ciao for now (I rhymed again),
Patrick
