Just a quick update on the GLM project:
Some of you are asking for updates on your submissions. I can tell you all - we have received them and are processing them. Unfortunately, for all the promises, less than half of the people that promised to submit ever wound up posting or submitting anything. What we are doing to try and salvage the project is going through the archives for stuff that fits our project criteria and contacting the authors for permission to use their journal entries, forum posts, whatever. Until we have enough material to guarantee that a project is going to actually happen, there's no point in doing editorial work. Needless to say, if you have new material to submit, go right ahead. We are not going to close the project to submissions while we are combing through the archives.
So that's where we are. It may be another six months before we see a book take shape out of this. Maybe less, maybe more. If everyone who had volunteered had followed through, we would be deep in the editing process by now. Since none of us wants to abandon GLM, we are going a different route for awhile to try and get the material we need. Don't worry. We have your stuff posted on our private Google Group. It isn't going anywhere. When we determine that we have enough to move ahead, we will begin the editiorial process. I can't give you any more specific a timetable than that. Have patience. We'll pull this off eventually. It's just going to take somewhat more time than we originally thought.
If you have any questions, feel free to post them or private them to me.
