How do you judge for the contests? Drop names in a hat?

easy...
I search on the contest keyword, which brings up a list of everyone who entered that contest. I put the number of submissions into an online random number generator, let it pick a number, and then count down from the top until I hit that number. Sometimes I vary the sort, as well, so I'll list all the entries, but then sort on name, or sort on date received, etc.
But that's about it.

My eventual goal...
... is for Adrian (or someone else in the drupal community) to have written a contest module. So, I just put some specific code after each item that says when to end the contest, you click it, and you're entered. At the time I set, the system automatically picks a winner and posts the result. So, I find out at the same time as everyone else.

Actually...
Hyacinthus was the first person to enter, so he was always the highest number (if sorted by date received), so if 8 people entered one, and the program picked #8, it would be him. So, after that happened like 2-3 times, I was like, this is getting strange, so I messed with the order, so sorting by name or whatever, and then it picked whatever number he was at then, too. No stopping him...
