Just a Question

Yeah, so I'm new to the site, and not entirely sure what's going on here or what the rules for this project/forum are, so sorry if I'm being n00bish here... but, what's the ruling on writing that's not completely autobiographical? Like, a monologue that's just a bit fictionalized? Or (okay, this idea is a bit weird and unorthodox... forgive me...) IM conversations? I dunno if it'd work, but it's something to think about...

I'm pretty sure we'd like to

I'm pretty sure we'd like to keep it real. If you need to change up a tiny bit, that's okay, and if the IM conversation is real, and you have permission from the person on the other side of the conversation, it should be okay, but you'd have to get word from Pat on that, since he knows about copywriting shit.

Whatever I did, I didn't do it.

It's fine as long as you use

It's fine as long as you use a fictitious screen name for the other person and change any details that may identify them. As to fictionalizing, if you want to fantasize on how things should have gone or something of that nature, then set it us as a fantasy. Really, though, what we want are real accounts and stories. That's kind of the whole point of the project.

but I would say creative nonfiction is OK...

I mean, try to stick to mostly real-life stuff, but fictionalize what you feel you need to.

Hmm...

I consider everything that comes out of my mouth to be fiction, because a) my memory is really shitty and b) five seconds after something happens, I immediately start punching reality up to make it tell like a better "story"
