One of the things I've gotten around to setting up is a member's directory.

Logged in users will be able to click on the members link in the top navigation bar to go to the member's directory. This shows a list of the registered users on the site. This is ONLY visible if you are logged in, to protect your privacy.

Part and parcel of this, was the addition of a couple of fields to make the profiles a bit more interesting. I am talking about the tag, and the tagline fields.

The tag line field is a short sentence about yourself, which is displayed on the profile summary page, in place of the longer biography field.

The tags field allows you to specify a list of keywords about stuff you are interested in, each of these keywords will then be linked with anyone else who specifies them. So if you fill these out, it will be much simpler to find other people like yourself. For example : Members tagged with videogames or emo.

To edit your profile, click on the My Account link in your navigation menu (first block on the right hand side), then click on the edit tab, then click on personal information. Once you have saved, your profile summary will be a lot more interesting.

The display of the profile summary page will be improving soon, allowing you to do things such as private message, view a user's journal and soon add them to your own friends list.

There are many more of these changes coming down the pipeline in the next few weeks, and I will keep the community informed when I make any more changes.
