Need peoples advice on working(as in job) fears?
OMG...I'm so happy/scared I got my first job today as a cashier and I am excited but I am scared of messing up I hope I can do it. I mean I passed pre-algebra and algebra and this only simple math but I struggled through those math classes. I am just scared the register learning that peice of cake but keeping track of not going over or under my starting amount is really stressing me out.
Do any of you have any suggestions or have any of you been a cashier can you tell me your experience? Well if you do thanks I am just worried is all first job jitters now only to be able to stay awake 8 hours straight and talk to strangers which terrifies me i have social anxiety guess I have to overcome that.

I was really really nervous when I first started as a cashier a few years ago. But basically, if the place you're at was anything like where I worked, the cash register should do everything for you lol.
I fucked up heaps and the bosses didn't mind much. Don't stress.

hey, relax you'll do well. you'll mess up on occasion, everyone does at work, but unless your boss is a total dick, he/she'll be understanding, especially while you're first there. and try not to worry about social anxiety... they're all just random customers, so all you have to do is be polite, just smile and say have a good day, and any social expecations will be more than complete. good luck, you'll do well!

Hi my first job was as a cashier also,and trust me it is not that hard.The most important thing is to stop stressing.Your place of employment will have someone to train you how to use the till,who will help you out untill you know what you are doing.And rememeber everyone makes mistakes so dont have a meltdown if you do happen to make a mistake.
Don't stress about talking to customers all day,they are usually happy if you just smile and say hi,after that the polite chit chat follows naturally.Relax and enjoy:)
