Not only did that happen in my german class today, not to one of my friends, but I'm gay and any kids of mine would have two mommies and it would piss me off if they were teased for that, and I completely understand your frustration at their justification of their actions. Someone said Fag in my spanish class a while back in reference to someone else and I called them on it and they apologized, but then they tried to justify that it was okay because they really think the person is one.

I have a teacher that is really into letting comments like that slide, and occasionally he'll make snide little remarks, not as obvious as that, but you know them when you hear them, which just makes me more grateful for my english teacher and the others on staff who don't let people get away with that kind of harrassment.

It's all fine and wonderful if it doesn't bother him, but it does bother other people and it's disrespectful.
