It's possible to get some of what you want, but I doubt one is able to get the majority or what one wants.
The Buddhists believe that life is one endless cycle of suffering and only through meditation can one attain Enlightenment or Nirvana, a state where one no longer suffers. I believe that there is much suffering in life. From the profound to the mundane.
Besides, someone somewhere has an opposing viewpoint of whatever one's desire may be so there will always be confrontation and longing and, ultimately, suffering.
