My friend alex (shes black) and she was like burkenstocks are so for white people and everyone was like you are so racist but I was like yeah that is pretty true
I hate to be a segregator
although im only telling the truth...
There's nothing racist about it. Lesbians drive Subarus, twenty-something gaybois drink skim milk, and black people do not wear Birkenstocks. Silliest goddamn thing I ever heard.

racist in the way that the question focuses on race, but hardly the worst i've heard. people can wear whatever shoes they'd like, regardless of what color thier skin is. personally, i find that people i know who wear burkenstocks tend to fit a certain personality/interest group. such as my one friend who bought a pair with his first phish shirt. they're comfy and very suitable foot gear for a trip to woodstock.

i think it is birkenstock now that you mention it. yeah, i've always thought of them as "hippie shoes" as my sister calls them. they're for anyone, of any race, and you'll find them piled on the outskirts of a frisbee game at a jamband show

Birkenstocks are 'healthy' sandals, made in germany. People who work 'on their feet' 12 hours a day - for example nurses and doctors in hospitals - wear them. They are extremely comfortable but - ehm - not 'tres en vogue'.

a specific brand of sandals. mine are brown leather, with two thick straps going across the front of the foot. quite comfy.
