I've had a very interesting few weeks, apart from moving over the country, I also had a life altering experience.
It all started with a boy, doesn't it always? Anyway .. I met Peter at a restaurant that
I had gone to with a friend, and we clicked immediately.. an evening of flirting, and
an exchange of phone numbers later, I had someone new in my life.
Being as I was on my way out of town, and I only had 2 weeks to spend any
time with him, and his work schedule involved working for most of the week.
This left us with Sundays to cavort, and on the first Sunday we were suppose to
meet up there was a complication, he wanted me to go to church with him first thing.
Now, I am not a religious person in the least, but this boy was really really hot,
and I figure that an hour or so of boredom for a few hours of uncomplicated nookie
would not be a problem. However, during the sermon, I think something resonated with me ..
because the next week I went back, and the next week. I never did get to sleep with Peter,
but what I did get was a million times better! LOVE!
This is a new experience for me, and I truly think I found a part of myself that I hadn't known existed,
however, my new found Belief in the love of Jesus has thrown me into disarray, as I need to re-evaluate
many things about myself, my sexuality and how this all relates to the future of Oasismag. This is an
absolute eye-opener for me, and the peace of mind it has given me is better than any high.
Love Adrian.

While I'm not exactly religious (to say the least), I can understand how it makes one feel more complete. I hope you find or have found whatever makes you feel happier and at peace.

Very Cool
That makes me want to look for better churches. I'm sick of suffocating under traditional, conservative interpretations of the Bible and staring at dusty old hymn books.
Thanks for sharing that. :)
Concerns
Since you found the love of Jesus and haven't slept with Peter, does that mean that you and he are still together? Or does that mean that you're reevaluating your sexuality?
Furthermore, if you do find that you are a better person when you're straight, does that mean that you'll shut down Oasis after your "transformation"?
I mean, I know you and you seem pretty gung-ho about any cause that you believe in, be it Drupal.org or Apple. I only hope that it doesn't carry over into an ex-gay ministry homophobia.
'Til then, try to remember all the fun you had when you were gay.
With love,
Adbak
Hmm
That's quite interesting. I guess I don't really have much to add. As long as you are happy, and what you are doing is what you think is right, then there is nothing wrong with it. Sharing a common concern with the others, I'm worried Oasis might cease to exist. I've only been here about a week or so, but I love it here! I hope that you are happy in whatever decision you make and that Oasis sticks around. Take care and have a wonderful day!

Oh, wow
Well I'm glad to know you've found something you like. Though, you've left a lot of questions and everyone else seems to be connecting the dots in ways that I didn't see at first.
I don't see how finding Jesus has anything to do with Oasismag or your sexuality. That is why I was hoping that you were metioned them because they are parts of who you are, and you need to just re-evaluate your life. I hope you're not thinking of going back on your sexuality or leaving Oasismag behind. You've done a super job here.

Hmm...
As long as you're not getting involved in a particularly homophobic church such as the Southern Baptist Convention or Assembly of God, then all power to you. Regardless, I know plenty of guys who are able to love dick and love Jesus at the same time, so reconciling the two shouldn't be too difficult.
Another thing is that all the homophobic shit in the Bible was written by a nomadic tribe from 3,000 years ago that had to have as many babies as possible due to the threat of predatory animals, the imperialistic ambitions of the Babylonians and Egyptians and disease. Another thing is that the Hebrews were very poor and surrounded by much wealthier societies that tended to tolerate homosexuality. Thus, homophobia was a way to make them feel better about themselves and think they at least had something that others didn't. Later on, European Christians grew to have the same perceptions of societies in Asia and Africa that were much wealthier than they were (most of Europe before the Renaissance). Again, it was a way for Europeans to say to themselves "Well, the Chinese and other societies might be richer and technologically more advanced than we are, but at least we're morally superior!"
In short, don't worry about what the Christian religion has to say about homosexuality, because it's nothing but a product of modern-day religious leaders who don't understand history and who take every little molecule of ink in the Bible as the absolute Truth. It's okay to be a Christian, but don't let it make you feel bad about who you are.
Frankly, if you don't want to do Oasis anymore, then find somebody else to take over, because this site has made a huge difference for a lot of the people who use it, and it will continue to do so.

Homophobic Adrian, I Think Not!
Hey people!
I think we can calm the mild panic. I dont think we are going to see a homophobic Adrian anytime soon. I quote "The men here are just to die for" (thats today 01/04/05 [DD/MM/YY]). See his blog, and full message here: http://daemon.co.za/node/view/306. Seems just a little gay to me ;-)

Another thing...
I'm so fucking gullible when it comes to April Fools' Day - I swear that I fall for it every time. I guess this is no exception. I mean, who could possibly prefer Jesus over the genitalia of the same sex? I know I couldn't.

I am really still moving to Canada =P
This year's Oasis one wasn't nearly as good as last year's one where I became straight *giggle*

Oh come on!
I haven't been on Oasis in about a week, so I missed this year's April Fool's post. But I remembered last year's, so I was on the lookout!
And you did not become straight last year, you just became bisexual... and went out with a woman... and became obsessed with boobies... Hmm...
Thanks for the laugh, Brother Adrian.
Jebus loves you,

(Relieved)
Oof... You frightened me.
No, really. I've got gullability issues to work on, I guess... Glad you were kidding.
