Ashamed to be an American

Boygasm's picture

Dear America and President Bush,

I am not afraid to say that I am ashamed to be an American. We have gone to war only to witness more and more military and innocent bystanders shot down or beheaded. The pictures of the American soldiers burial with flags hits so many people at home whom are crying for their loss one. The beheading on broadcast Internet depicting an American man being beheaded for revenge for abusing the Iraq prisoners. It really hurt us to feel hatred and anger over the issue for Oil!!

We have gone to war over OIL! Only when Bush’s announced on television that weapon of mass destruction never existed. Bush’s elaborative cover up has gone to far and upsets the minority of America to save his face from this political mess. He then brings up the issue of gay marriage to divert us from the real issue that Bush is causing an international mess for us!! And we have hell to pay!!! Remember the last war I think it was World War II where we had to pay in billions of damage? Bush already had taken billions of our money already, to go torward-rebuilding Iraq, ending up putting most of the layoffs, cut downs, and so many other things for America. Might we pay more after the war is done? Did he fulfill his promise? No. He stole office, and went to war with Iraq immediately from day one.

I used to think that Bush’s was being cocky because his wife couldn’t satisfy him in bed well enough. Now I think that he’s just doing it for his own father’s sake and finishing up what he started. I’m just very disappointed in how Bush conducted himself for the sake of America. We are supposed to a very respectable, diplomats, humane, and act like adults!! While orders were made, blames are put upon others, thoughtfully killing thousand of Iraq people and children!!!!

I am saddened that we didn’t stop him before this ever started. I am frustrated because we have the power to stop this from happening and nothing was done about it. While half of American protested to prevent more hate more anger and stop the everlasting memory of violence! Violence was never an answer, there’s no solution within. Now we will be burdened with the mere memory of Iraq people and children, limbless, crippled forever, and the memory of the killing will forever etch in our memories.

I am ashamed to be an American. Everything we worked so hard for is forever lost. We have to work hard to repair that mistake and get back where we left off.

hmm...

We payed to reconstruct Germany and Japan in WWII, because in WWI, when we helped Germany reconstruct based on *loans* (rather than grants), it created such an economic devestation that it allowed Hitler to take advantage of a desperate people. Inflation was so extreme that it literally took a wheelbarrow of money to buy a single loaf of bread. That decision in itself (besides the Treaty of Versailles) was a huge reason for WWII, and had it been prevented, 44 million Europeans wouldn't have died (that's not even *counting* all of the Asisans, Americans, and few, but still significant, Africans).

history lesson

Ah, finally we're in my area of expertise, I get to show off a little! Anyway, We payed to reconstruct Germany and Japan in WWII...I assume you're referring to the Marshall Plan. The reality is a little less noble, a little more classical capitalist American. The Marshall Plan was the same sort of corporate giveaway that we're witnessing right now in Iraq and Afghanistan, just a little more subtly put together. A total windfall for the businesses involved in the reconstruction, an utter smash-n-grab on Europe. Even more than what we actually did in the war, the Marshall Plan was the economic foundation of America-as-superpower. This concludes today's lecture, please prepare a five page paper ofr Monday describing the economic effects of the Second World War in Europe. Enjoy your weekend.

American dreamer

You're right, but I still disagree. All of the things you wrote are true. But that's not our country. Our country is...

Potheads
Homos
Night-Shift Waitresses
Truck Drivers
Ghetto Lords
Internet Junkies
Bomb-Throwing Revolutionaries
Drunken Fishermen
War Protesters
Vietnam Vets
Drag Queens
Compulsive Gamblers

I love my country. And damned if I'm going to lie down and let these unscrupulous fuckers take it away from me. Fuck Karl Rove. My damn country.

As you listed above yhats our

As you listed above yhats our fault (but not vetrians), but it does not give us the right to go to Iraq and kill people just for the hell of it darling. We both know that It was Osmin Bin Laden that planned this bombing on WTC. It is not Iraq's fault and that they have to pay for his mistake.

I think...

...we're saying the same thing, unless I'm mistaken. The people behind "our" terroristic foreign policy are not our country. They weren't even really elected; for the past three years, our country has been run by the propigators of a silent coup, and we've let them get away with it. That's our sin, consent by silence.

One day, America's got to wake up. One day, we've got to figure out that there's more of us than there are of them. One day, America's got to realize that the President's never going to fix things, that Congress is never going to fix things. If it's going to be set right, we're the only ones with the power and will to do it. What's happening in Iraq today is one of the darkest moments in recent American history, but even having said that, it's still a symptom, and getting rid of the symptom isn't the end. It's my country, and it's yours. Let's get to work.

why not become an expat?

Go and live in another country. I don't mean that in the "love it or leave it" sense, I mean that when you live outside of the US for a prolonged period of time, this part of your conscience that's "American" disappears, and even though you still have an American passport and and SSN and everything, you stop identifying with the US, and "we invaded Iraq" becomes "they invaded Iraq." It's a weird experience, but if you're sick of what the US has become, becoming an expatriate somewhere else can be the best experience you ever had.

Being ashamed with America do

Being ashamed with America does not mean I have to move. We all have rights to live everywhere. I am ashamed of America, yes, and I am as part as everybody else is. As much as I dispise that, I deal.

But Bush? No. Lets make sure he never returns for the second term.

As an American your DO NOT ha

As an American your DO NOT have the right to live everywher ein the world. I had to remind someone who was doing some not so nice things, while her eine Canada, That he was a GEUST in our country and this type of bull isn't toerated. his reply. "I am an American, I can go anywhere" I replied "YOu are a GUest and can be deported"

That kid of thinking is also why Fred Pehlps s permanently banned from entering Canada. He tried to enter this country to spread hate. at the border he stated the american constitution allowed him freedom of movement. Canada customs sad "Not in Canada It Doesnt"

What I am saying? When you travel to another country and act like a bafoon, it's not a right to do it.

You can get a green card and

You can get a green card and or marry someone to be able to become a citizen if the record is clear. Passport can enable you to go anywhere and stay as long as you like, just as long you dont claim living there. I wasnt being smug about it JB.

Sure, But What About-

Sure what we did over in Iraq was bad, but that should not tarnish the entire American image. We have done some pretty good things and I really don't think everyone should go and forget those in light of what has happened recently. That was only some Americans, only some of them tortured and only some of them fought. We do do good things still, everyone just seems to miss that now.

Well it already has becuase Iraq people must think that Bush and America is just the same as Saddam. Thats how I also feel right now. That has tarnished our image, to them we are traitors and liars.

. We have gone to war for the thing we have gone to war often before.. resorses. In the 21st centry its not longer gold, but oil.

. I too am ashamed of what America has been doing.. but for all of its history.

. I believe it is a Human Right to be able to live in peace.

ASHAMED of america

Not only am I ASHAMED of america, (purposely spelled with a lower case 'a',) but I intend to make a strong effort in chatrooms (such as yahoo's chatroom "ASHAMED of america") to encourage americans who are not brainwashed by its government to speak out with courage against the immoral and warmongering nation. If you are an american, this is YOUR country...don't let the propeganda machine to intimidate you to either support their troops or be silent...BE STRONG, BE BRAVE!!!

As long as americans support the troops in Iraq, the longer they will stay there.

As long as americans are intimidated not to support MORAL VALUES, gay rights activists will continue attacking the leagal system.

As long as americans remain silent, the american government will CONTINUE to create laws restricting your freedom and taking away your rights of privacy.

The agenda of this nation is clear, and its time we all stand up and SHOUT "Clean up your act america, and we're not going to stop until YOU DO!!!" Don't be intimidated by your government. they are suppose to be working FOR you, not AGAINST you. Lets make america the nation "Of the people, by the people, and FOR THE PEOPLE" once again!
