Post holiday doldrums

Hey everyone! Hope you had/have/will have great holidays! I did. Santa brought me a digital camera (so be expecting pics. You would do well to notice there was no winky after the word 'pics', I'm not that kinky), Pirates of the Caribbean dvd (!), Bend It Like Beckham dvd(!, but less so than PotC), Lord of the Rings dvds (1st and 2nd ones), assorted clothes.

I had rented the PS2 game 'Prince of Persia' on Tuesdee, I believe, and beat it yesterday. It was a good game in that there were puzzles you had to figure out along with mobs to fight. The whole time my siblings were reminded of Zelda, but to someone a little more RPG-knowledgeable, I was reminded of another PS2 game, Ico. You had to get out of a castle and save a princess, if memory serves me correctly, as well as solve puzzles. PoP was neat in that the main character was extremely acrobatic and the story in the beginning and middle was intriguing. However, the storyline faded near the end and movie clips abounded, making it a rather lackluster finish. But it was still fun.

In other news, my perforated eardrum was fixed earlier today. In July of 2002, I was in my aunt and uncle's hot tub and I had my feet draped over the edge of the tub and I was floating supine. My ears were underwater. The next morning I woke up and anything someone said was muffled in my right ear. Then it started to drip a bloody yellow pus. Not fun. I got some medication for it at a medcheck and it got better. It got infected again sometime later again. Once I got back to Indiana (I was at the Outer Banks in North Carolina at the time of the first infection) I had a doctor check it out. There was indeed a hole hidden away in the upper-back corner of my eardrum.

Today I had surgery to repair it. My hearing wasn't impaired or anything, but I did not want to keep using ear plugs to go swimming and to take showers. And I certainly did not want to get another infection. This surgery wasn't anything to be afraid of, especially going through two oral surgeries and two leg surgeries before. The only thing I was nervous about was walking into the operating room. Previously I had only been carted into the room on a gurney. But I was quickly sedated and drifted off to sleep. Waking up, the nurse asked me if I wanted some more morphine. Couldn't hurt, could it? So I got some more, then drifted off yet again. It was only supposed to take half an hour, but I kept sleeping on and off for 4 hours. I'm home though (obviously) and still extremely sleepy. I haven't blogged in a while, so I thought I might.

Ooh! I now have a bandage wrapped around my right ear that goes across my forehead. I feel like I should be rapping or something. Perhaps I'll take a picture with my digicam for y'all to see.

As I write this, my mom is about 5 feet away playing a game on the other computer. I feel emboldened blogging so openly. Maybe I'm finally that secure with myself (or maybe it's just the morphine still trailing around in my bloodstream. Either way.... And my dad just walked by and asked what Oasis was, I told him it's where I blog, and he said, "good, I'm glad you keep an online journal."

*Yawn* I'm getting sleepy, so I'll leave you be. Until next time...I'm adbak. Chat me up at 'adbak116' (AIM), 'adbak116@aol.com' (MSN), or 231063255 on ICQ.

|| UPDATE || The guy that did that little strip show for me in my last blog apparently gets high on all sorts of drugs, so maybe he was less inhibited as a result of those drugs or his brain is so fried that he can't think straight (though he is gay). ;)
